''Makiyamaia'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Clavatulidae. Distribution This marine species is known as fossils from the Miocene to the Recent of Japan, the Pliocene of Okinawa. In Recent times it is found in the South China Sea, Korea and the Philippines and off South Africa. ''Makiyamaia coreanica'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Clavatulidae. Description The size of an adult shell varies between 25 mm and 50.9 mm. The whorls are angular and tuberculated in the middle. These tubercles develop from more or less indistinct oblique folds or ribs, everywhere closely encircled by striae. The color of the shell is light yellowish brown, the tubercles lighter. Clavatulidae was raised, based on cladistic analysis, from subfamily to the family level by Rosenberg in 1998.
