Mangosuthu Buthelezi
Prince Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi (born 27 August 1928) is a South African politician and Zulu traditional leader who is currently a Member of Parliament and the traditional prime minister to the Zulu royal family. He was Chief Minister of the KwaZulu bantustan during apartheid and founded the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in 1975. He also served as Minister of Home Affairs from 1994 to 2004. Buthelezi was one of the most prominent black politicians of the apartheid era and his legacy in that period remains controversial. He was the sole political leader of the KwaZulu government, entering when it was still the native reserve of Zululand in 1970 and remaining in office until it was abolished in 1994. Thokozani Langa (born 9 February 1972) is a ''Maskandi'' musician from Mahlabathini, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Langa signed with Bula Music in 2004 to release his third studio album '' I-Protection Order'' (2011). After receiving exposure on national radio and the traditional South African music program Ezodumo, he was nominated for SAMA for both his albums ''Ipeni Nephepha'' (2005) and ''Lishonil' Ilanga'' (2006), in the category of Best Maskandi Album and Best Mbaqanga Album respectively, alongside The Soul Brothers and Bhekumuzi Luthuli. Langa was engaged for some time in a musical rivalry with fellow Maskandi singer Bhekumuzi Luthuli. Sfiso Norbert Buthelezi (born 1961) is a South African politician and a member of the country's ruling party, the African National Congress. Buthelezi was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Finance after president Jacob Zuma reshuffled his cabinet and removed the Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas in April 2017. Maskandi
Maskandi is a form of Zulu folk music, originally associated with migrant workers, that is evolving with South African society. Often characterised by a picking guitar style which draws on a variety of historical influences it also has an important social function with players being given sanction to publicly criticise powerful people. Origins The music originated in "female gourd-resonated monochord songs that were transferred and given an acoustic life on guitar". Ugu is one of the 11 districts of KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. ''Ugu'' is Zulu for "coast". It governs the KZN South Coast and its seat is Port Shepstone.
