Mahavanona is a town and commune ( mg, kaominina) in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Antsiranana II, which is a part of Diana Region. Antsiranana
Antsiranana ( mg, Antsiran̈ana ), named Diego-Suárez prior to 1975, is a city in the far north of Madagascar. Antsiranana is the capital of Diana Region. It had an estimated population of 115,015 in 2013. History The bay and city originally used the name ''Diego-Suárez'', named after Diogo Soares, a Portuguese navigator who visited the bay in 1543–44. In the 1880s, the bay was coveted by France, which desired it as a coaling station for steamships. Route nationale 6 (RN6) is a primary highway in Madagascar of 706 km, running from Antsiranana to Ambondromamy. It crosses the regions of Diana and Sofia. It was paved in 1992.
