Macajalar Bay
Macajalar Bay is a deep water bay of the Bohol Sea, located north of the province of Misamis Oriental on Mindanao Island, in the southern part of the Philippines. Cagayan de Oro City, being the regional center of Northern Mindanao (Region X), is located in one of its deep-water harbors. Twelve of the municipalities of Misamis Oriental share a coastline with the bay. Opol, Misamis Oriental
Opol, officially the Municipality of Opol ( ceb, Lungsod sa Opol; tl, Bayan ng Opol), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 66,327 people. Opol was created from the barrios of Opol, Igpit, and Lower Iponan, formerly part of Cagayan de Oro, by virtue of Republic Act No. 524, approved June 15, 1950. The municipality is gradually becoming more urbanized, as a result of local population growth and the expansion of nearby Cagayan de Oro City. Historically, Opol was a more rural area focused on agriculture and fishing. The subdivision of rural land for new residential housing is a matter of some controversy amongst locals. Villanueva, Misamis Oriental
Villanueva, officially the Municipality of Villanueva ( ceb, Lungsod sa Villanueva; tl, Bayan ng Villanueva), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 40,419 people. History Long before the Spanish colonization, the place was originally named "Bongloy" by the natives called the Magahats, because of the three gigantic ''Bongloy'' trees that grew in the place where the Catholic church and town plaza stands today. Iligan
Iligan, officially the City of Iligan ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Iligan; fil, Lungsod ng Iligan; Maranao: ''Inged a Iligan''), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the region of Northern Mindanao, Philippines.
