Mabel Teng
Mabel Teng is a former American elected official. She is a former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and a former assessor-recorder of San Francisco. She is also a former immigration rights community activist in Chinatown, San Francisco. She became the executive director of Chinatown's Chinese Culture Center in 2009. Early life Teng grew up in Hong Kong. She attended high school in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Career She began her political career as an activist with Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition. She cofounded the Chinese Progressive Association in Boston and was later the co-chair of the San Francisco branch. She was elected to the board of trustees of the San Francisco Community College District in 1990. Supervisor Teng was elected a member of the Board of Supervisors in 1994 and served for two terms. The Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco (or CCC) (; Jyutping: ''Gau6gam1saan1 Zung1waa4 Man4faa3 Zung1sam1'') is a community-based, non-profit organization established in 1965 as the operations center of the Chinese Culture Foundation located in Hilton San Francisco Financial District, at 750 Kearny Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco, California, United States. The Mission District (Spanish: ''Distrito de la Misión''), commonly known as The Mission (Spanish: ''La Misión''), is a neighborhood in San Francisco, California. 2000 San Francisco Board Of Supervisors Election
The 2000 San Francisco San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Board of Supervisors elections occurred on November 7, 2000, with a runoff election held on December 12, 2000. All eleven seats were contested. Elections to odd-numbered districts were to four-year terms, while elections to even-numbered districts were to transitional two-year terms, then four-year terms thereafter. This election was the first following the reintroduction of electoral districts for the Board of Supervisors in 2000; previously, except for a short period of time, supervisors were elected at-large. The first districts, implemented in 1977, saw Harvey Milk and Dan White attain office; the districts were abolished in 1980 in the wake of Milk's assassination by White. West Portal is a small neighborhood in San Francisco, California. West Portal is a primarily residential area of the City. The neighborhood's main corridor, West Portal Avenue, serves as a principal shopping district of southwestern San Francisco.
