MV Troubridge
MV ''Troubridge'' was a ferry that served the South Australian coastal trade between Port Adelaide, Kingscote on Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln. It was built by Evans Deakin & Company, of Brisbane, Queensland as a roll on roll off ferry to minimise loading time and maximise time spent at sea. Operational history ''Troubridge'' was built to replace '' SS Karatta'' in serving on the Adelaide - Kingscote - Port Lincoln route. It began services to Kingscote and Port Lincoln in 1961. Services to Port Lincoln were eventually discontinued leaving ''Troubridge'' to dedicated Kingscote Services. It operated until 1 June 1987, when it was replaced by ''Island Seaway''. ''Troubridge'' was sold and went to Malta in 1990 as ''City of Famagusta''. She was then bought by European Seaways and renamed ''European Glory''. Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island, also known as Karta Pintingga (literally 'Island of the Dead' in the language of the Kaurna people), is Australia's third-largest island, after Tasmania and Melville Island. ''Island Seaway'' is a ferry that once served the route between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island in South Australia. The vessel was built in Port Adelaide by the Eglo Engineering Company, commencing service in 1987 in replacement of the ''Troubridge''. It had a Gross Tonnage of 3,536 and a Net Tonnage of 1,680. Overview ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was established in July 1936 by Frank Shennen as ''Transportation''. It was renamed ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' in March 1940. It originally covered all forms of transport, but after a short while rail and tram news was withdrawn, with it focussing on the bus and truck industries. It was sold in 1986 to the Murray family. Kingscote is a town in the Australian state of South Australia located on Kangaroo Island about south-west of the state capital of Adelaide. It is South Australia's oldest European settlement and the island's largest town. At the 2016 census, Kingscote had a population of 1,790.
