MTV Video Music Brazil
The MTV Video Music Brazil awards (originally Video Music Awards Brazil), more commonly known as VMB, were MTV Brasil's annual award ceremony, established in 1995. MTV viewers picked the winners for most categories since 2001. Unlike in the MTV Video Music Awards, the most important category at the MTV Video Music Brazil was the Viewer's Choice, not the Video of the Year; both of these categories merged in 2005. In 2007, the awards have faced a major rebranding, with several categories extinguished (most notably the specific genre divisions) and even the trophies' design changed. From that year, the awards began to focus more on artists rather than music videos and the most important category became the Artist of the Year. However, the Video of the Year award continued to exist. In 2013, due to the closure of MTV Brasil's operations, the ceremony was cancelled. 2010 MTV Video Music Brazil
The 2010 MTV Video Music Brazil, known as VMB 2010 in Brazil, was held on September 16, 2010, hosted by Marcelo Adnet and took place at the Credicard Hall, São Paulo. It awarded the best in Brazilian music, popular culture and internet culture in the year of 2010. The most notable moments in the show were the 5 awards received by pop band Restart, including for Best New Act and Act of the Year, this last sounded by boos from the audience. There was also a live performance by American alternative rock band OK Go, the appearance of electropop duo 3OH!3, Mexican singer Christian Chávez and Paraguayan model Larissa Riquelme, among many Brazilian personalities. 2009 MTV Video Music Brasil
The 2009 MTV Video Music Brazil was hosted by Marcelo Adnet and took place at the Credicard Hall. It awarded the best in Brazilian music, popular culture and internet culture in the year of 2009. Despite being a Brazilian awards show, the 2009 VMB included live performances by American rapper Ja Rule (in duet with Brazilian pop singer Wanessa) and Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand, who were also nominated in the Best International Act category (but lost to Britney Spears). The 2009 VMB had over 20 categories, the largest number in the history of the show; therefore, part of the awards were delivered in a special show named "VMB Antes" ("VMB Before"), presented some hours before the main event, including small performances by the 2009 VMB Dream Band winners (the last year where the Dream Band category was maintained; in 2010 the category was extinguished) and winners in other categories. Marcelo Adnet
Marcelo França Adnet (born September 5, 1981, in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian actor, comedian and former VJ. He has been on many TV shows such as ''Adnet viaja'' ("Adnet travels") (2012), ''Adnet ao vivo'' ("Adnet live") (2011) and ''Comédia MTV'' ("MTV Comedy") (2010-2012). He was named by ''Época'' Magazine one of the 100 most influential Brazilians in 2009. Adnet holds a degree in journalism at PUC-Rio, but his career as a comedian began while in college when a friend, the actor Fernando Caruso, invited him to make an improvisation play, ''Z.E. 2008 MTV Video Music Brasil
The 2008 MTV Video Music Brazil was hosted by Marcos Mion and took place at the Credicard Hall. Brazilian rock band NX Zero was the big winner of the event. One of the most notable moments was British indie rock band Bloc Party's performance, during which the audience booed the band after noticing they were lip-synching and mimicking to a pre-recorded track instead of singing and playing live. 2008 VMB also had American singer Ben Harper opening the ceremony performing alone, before being joined by Brazilian singer Vanessa da Mata for a second performance. João Gordo
João Gordo (born João Francisco Benedan on 13 March 1964) is a Brazilian vocalist and TV host. He is the lead singer of the hardcore punk band Ratos de Porão, also known simply as RxDxPx. He participated in many seminal punk events in Brazil, such as the collection entitled ''O Começo do Fim do Mundo'' (The Beginning of the End of the World). Besides several guest appearances in metal radio shows from São Paulo such as ''Backstage'' and ''Comando Metal'' (defunct, originally syndicated in São Paulo on 89.1 Rock FM). In the 1990s he became one of the most famous VJs of MTV Brasil, in their programs of games and talk shows. Daniella Cicarelli Lemos (born 6 November 1978) is a Brazilian former model and TV show hostess for MTV Brasil's '' Beija Sapo''. She was engaged to Brazilian footballer Ronaldo for three months in 2005. Biography Cicarelli was born in Belo Horizonte, daughter of Yara Cicarelli and Antonio de Padua Lemos. She is a descendant of Italian immigrants. As a model, Daniela started her profession when she was about 20 years old, in parallel to the Business Administration course in the city of Belo Horizonte. The 2005 MTV Video Music Brazil was hosted by Selton Mello and took place at the Credicard Hall.
