MGP Nordic
MGP Nordic (''Melodi Grand Prix Nordic'') was a Scandinavian song contest for children aged 8 to 15, organized by DR, NRK, SVT and Yle through Yle Fem. It originated as a 2000 spin-off of Denmark's Eurovision Song Contest national final known as '' De unges Melodi Grand Prix'', but expanded to become MGP Nordic in 2002 with the addition of Norway and Sweden. History MGP Nordic was put on hiatus in 2003 when the European Broadcasting Union began to organize the ''Junior Eurovision Song Contest'', a pan-European expansion of the concept. Regional finalists were sent to the new competition instead of MGP Nordic until 2006, when the countries jointly pulled out of the contest due to concerns over the ethical treatment of competitors. As a result, MGP Nordic was revived in 2006, with the new addition of Finland to the competition a year later. DR (broadcaster)
DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union. DR was originally funded by a media licence, however since 2022, the media license has been replaced by an addition to the Danish income tax. Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was the eighth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Minsk, Belarus. It was held on 20 November 2010. The contest was won by Vladimir Arzumanyan from Armenia with the song Mama. This gave Armenia its first Junior Eurovision victory and its first victory in any Eurovision contest. Location The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) invited broadcasters to bid for the rights to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Belarus broadcaster National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BRTC) won the rights to organise the contest over bids from Russia and Malta. Under construction through 2009, the 15,000-spectator Minsk-Arena hosted the event. Forum Copenhagen ( da, Forum København, italic=no) is a large multi-purpose, rentable indoor arena located in Frederiksberg, Denmark. It hosts a large variety of concerts, markets, exhibitions and other events. The venue can hold up to 10,000 people depending on the event. The Forum operates as a convention center, concert hall and indoor arena. It was opened in February 1926 to host a car exhibition and was last renovated in 1996–97. Carola ''Josefine'' Sundström Lindberg, (born 6 September 1976) in Upplands Väsby is a Swedish television host, author and singer. Sundström participated in Melodifestivalen 1999 with the girlgroup Ai with the song "Bilder av dej". The same year she started working for SVT and hosted the musicvideo show "Voxpop" for several years and she also hosted Melodifestivalen 2001. She also hosted Lilla Melodifestivalen 2002 on SVT. Sundström was the Swedish commentator during the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 broadcast on SVT. Josefine Sundström was the Swedish spokesperson at Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and announced the countries voting result. MGP Nordic 2002
MGP Nordic 2002 was the first annual MGP Nordic, a song competition eligible to singers from Denmark, Norway and Sweden between the ages of 8 and 15. It took place on 27 April 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark and was hosted by Camilla Ottesen, Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Josefin Sundström. The winner was then 12-year-old Razz from Denmark with his song "Kickflipper". Creation of the MGP Nordic The contest originated in 2000 when Denmark's Radio held a song contest for Danish children that year and in 2001. The idea was extended to a Scandinavian song competition in 2002, MGP Nordic, with Denmark, Norway and Sweden as participants. The competing songs were primarily in Swedish and written by the participants themselves. Melodi Grand Prix Junior, also spelled as MGPjr, is a Norwegian television song competition for aspiring singers between the ages of 8 and 15. The competing songs are written by the participants themselves and are sung primarily in Norwegian, and on several occasions, there were songs in Northern Sami, another language of Norway. History The idea was taken from the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio, who launched a song contest for aspiring singers aged 8 to 15 in spring 2000. The format was a success and caught the attention of Norway and Sweden in 2002. From 2003 to 2005, the contest used to select the Norwegian entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC).
