Műegyetemi Atlétikai és Football Club (English: Technical University Athletics and Football Club) o MAFC is a Hungarian football club from the city of Budapest. It is the oldest still active football club in Hungary, and it currently plays in the II. regional Budapest league. It is the football club of Budapest University of Technology and Economics. History The club was founded as Műegyetemi Football Csapat (MFC - Technical University Football Club) by the students of the Budapest Technical University, Alfréd Hajós and Ferenc Gillemot, on the 1st of November 1897. At the time MFC started operating as the second, independent university sports club in the country. Budapesti Torna Club was a Hungarian sports club in Budapest and the first football club in the country. Its football team were the winners of the first two seasons of Nemzeti Bajnokság I, in 1901 and 1902. History The club was founded on January 21, 1897. It was the first official football club to be founded in Hungary, and it will soon be followed by many others. On September 18 of the same year, it played the first official match in Hungarian history, between two internal teams, the blue-white one and the red-white one, with the former winning 5-0. Bobby Dobbs
Robert Lee Dobbs (October 13, 1922 – April 2, 1986) was an American football fullback and coach. Early years After graduating from high school in Frederick, Oklahoma in 1941, Bobby entered University of Tulsa to play football for coach Henry Frnka. His brother Glenn, was also a star at University of Tulsa. A fullback, Dobbs played in Tulsa's first ever bowl game; the 1942 Sun Bowl. With the United States involved in World War II, Bobby's patriotism, along with his desire to become a pilot and play football, led him to West Point. In early 1943, he joined the United States Army Air Corps. His athletic ability resulted in letters in football and basketball. Bobby was the starting fullback on the 1944 Army team. The 1944 Army team had a 9–0 record, two future Heisman Trophy winners (Doc Blanchard & Glenn Davis), and defeated their opponents by a combined score of 504–35 en route to winning the Associated Press National Championship. Italo Santelli
Italo Santelli (15 August 1866 – 8 February 1945) was an Italian fencing, fencer who is considered to be the "father of modern sabre (fencing), sabre fencing". Biography Italo Santelli was born in Carrodano (La Spezia), Italy in 1866. He studied at famous Italian schools, including the Scuola Magistrale of Rome (Scuola Magistrale Militare di Roma), where he graduated in 1889. In 1896 Santelli was considered an established fencing master, and Santelli moved to Budapest together with brother Otello, also a fencer, and his wife. Santelli had his son, Giorgio Santelli, Giorgio, in Hungary in 1897, who always kept his Italian citizenship, before leaving for the USA. It was in Hungary that Italo Santelli began to create a new style of sabre fencing. The style involved a much more quick defense than classical training called for, and became known as the "modern style" of Santelli.
