Māris Riekstiņš
Māris Riekstiņš (born 8 April 1963 in Riga, Soviet Union) is a Latvian politician and diplomat and a former Foreign Minister of Latvia (November 2007 – April 2010). He is the current Ambassador of Latvia to the Russian Federation. Biography Riekstiņš' career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia began in 1992 as a Desk Officer of the Political Department of the Europe Division, followed by the position of the Director of the Western Europe Division. In 1993, he became the Under-secretary of State, soon assuming the duties of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He remained in that position until his posting as the Ambassador of Latvia to the United States in 2004, and additionally non-resident Ambassador to Mexico. Andrejs Pildegovičs (born August 11, 1971) is the state secretary for Foreign Affairs of Latvia. Education and career Pildegovičs attended Oxford University from 1998 to 1999 in the foreign language department. He studied Chinese history at the University of St. Petersburg. He also studied at the Beijing Foreign Language Institute. Shortly after he attended Oxford University, came the birth of his second child, Eva Pildegoviča. Pildegovičs was in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as head of the Middle East and Africa division, from 1999 to 2000. He was a foreign policy adviser to the President from 2000 to 2006. The People's Party ( lv, Tautas partija, TP) was a conservative political party in Latvia. The People's Party was the leader of three governments and a member of another four. History Tautas partija was founded in 1998 by Andris Šķēle, a businessman and former prime minister, who was the chairman of the party until 2002.
