München Olympiastadion Station
München Olympiastadion is a former stop on the Munich S-Bahn. The station was built in the early 1970s and opened on 26 May 1972 to provide additional means of transportation for the 1972 Summer Olympics. The station was used during the 1972 Olympics, but afterward was disconnected from the regular service network. It was used sporadically during football matches in the nearby Olympic Stadium. Since 8 August 1984, S8 and S11 services called at the station when football matches were taking place at the stadium. The station was officially closed in 1988 and the tracks leading to the station were removed in 2003. The station consisted of two island platforms with four tracks in total. Two of them terminated at the station, and the remaining two continued further south. Access was provided by the so-called '' Northern Ring'', a normally freight-only railway line. Munich International Airport- Franz Josef Strauß (german: link=no, Flughafen München) is an international airport serving Munich and Upper Bavaria. München Hauptbahnhof or Munich Central Station is the main railway station in the city of Munich, Germany. It is one of the three stations with long-distance services in Munich, the others being Munich East station (''München Ost'') and Munich-Pasing station (''München-Pasing''). Transrapid
Transrapid is a German-developed high-speed monorail train using magnetic levitation. Planning for the Transrapid system started in 1969 with a test facility for the system in Emsland, Germany completed in 1987. In 1991, technical readiness for application was approved by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in cooperation with renowned universities. The last version, the Transrapid 09, is designed for a cruising speed of and allows acceleration and deceleration of approximately . The Munich U-Bahn (german: U-Bahn München) is an electric rail rapid transit network in Munich, Germany. The system began operation in 1971, and is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG; Munich Transport Company). 1988 UEFA European Football Championship
The 1988 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament was held in West Germany from 10 to 25 June 1988. It was the eighth UEFA European Championship, which is held every four years and supported by UEFA. The tournament crowned the Netherlands as European champions for the first time.
