Mélanie Pain
Mélanie Pain is a French indie pop singer from Caen. She performs with the band Nouvelle Vague as well as being a solo artist. Biography Hailing from Aix-en-Provence, Pain studied political sciences before moving to Paris to work in a web agency, and then a design agency. Not originally intending to be a singer, a demo she had recorded vocals on for a friend accidentally found its way into the hands of Nouvelle Vague. Subsequently, she has toured for five years with the band. She sings in both French and English, after years of covering English songs for Nouvelle Vague. Her influences include The Pixies, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey and Nick Drake. In April 2009, Pain released her first solo album entitled '' My Name'' featuring artists such as Julien Doré, Phoebe Killdeer and Thomas Dybdahl. Julien Doré (; born 7 July 1982) is a French singer-songwriter, musician and actor. He is the winner of the fifth season of the television show ''Nouvelle Star'', aired on the French Television M6 channel. Life Doré was born in Alès (Gard, Occitanie), and grew up in Lunel. After taking his baccalauréat littéraire at the college Louis Feuillade, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts of Nîmes for five years. He is the founder of the band Dig up Elvis. ''Bande à Part'' is the second studio album by the French band Nouvelle Vague. It was released on 14 June 2006 in Europe on Peacefrog Records. Like the band's eponymous first album, ''Bande à Part'' is a collection of bossa nova cover versions of 1980s new wave tracks. The European edition has 14 standard tracks, with an 18-track limited edition. The slightly different United States edition, on the Luaka Bop label, has 14 standard tracks, with a 17-track limited edition. Release ''Bande à Part'' was a commercial success, charting in several European countries. "Teenage Kicks" is the debut single by Northern Irish punk rock band the Undertones. Written in the summer of 1977 by J.J. O'Neill, the band's rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter, the song was recorded on 15 June 1978 and initially released that September on independent Belfast record label Good Vibrations, before the band signed to Sire Records on 2 October 1978. Thomas Dybdahl (born 12 April 1979) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Background Thomas Dybdahl grew up in Sandnes, Norway. He started his musical career as the guitarist in the band Quadraphonics. The band released one album in 2002 on Oslove Records. Career Dybdahl's first release as a solo artist was the EP ''Bird'', in 2000. His second EP, from 2001, was titled ''John Wayne''.
