Mykola Antonenko
Mykola Antonenko (also known as Nikolai Petrovich Antonenko) (born September 2, 1972) is a Ukrainian middle- and long-distance runner, and Ukrainian national champion in the 10K. He is the winner of multiple notable road races and a top finisher in major international races. Running career At the age of 16, Antonenko won the Ukrainian junior 5000 metres championship. A year later, he became the 3-kilometer junior champion of the USSR in the labor reserves. He began training at longer distances after leaving the reserves, and found he could compete with the fastest runners in his nation. He became a member of the Ukrainian national marathon team. In 1998 and 1999, he finished in the top five finishers at the Košice Peace Marathon with times of 2:17:05 (fifth place) and 2:18:14 (fourth place). Long-distance Running
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. Mindaugas Pukštas (born 3 August 1978) is a Lithuanian former marathon runner. He represented his nation Lithuania at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and later became an All-American in cross-country racing as a member of the track and field team for Oklahoma State University, under head coach Rene Sepulveda, while studying at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States. Before he retired from his athletic career in 2006 to pursue volunteer coaching for his alma mater's track and field squad, Pukstas ran a career best in 2:12:52 to win his first and only title at the Eurasia Marathon in Istanbul. The Twin Cities Marathon (TCM) is an annual Marathon (sport), marathon in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area which normally takes place the first weekend in October. Hannover Marathon
The Hannover Marathon is an annual road running event featuring races over the marathon, half marathon and 10 km distance that is held in May in the city of Hannover, Germany. Ibrahim Mohamed Aden Gedi (born November 11, 1972) is a Somali-American former middle-distance runner who represented Somalia in international competition until he gained US citizenship in 2000, after which he competed for the United States. He is the younger brother of Jama Aden. Running career High school Aden first attended and ran for W.T. Woodson High School, for which he won the men's 1000 meters at the 1990 VHSL Group AAA State Indoor meet. After his sophomore year, however, he transferred to Fork Union Military Academy. Collegiate Aden attended and ran for George Mason University after transferring from Central Arizona CC. He ran in both the men's 800 meters and 1500 meters at the 1996 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Carlsbad Marathon started out as the San Diego Marathon. It is said to be one of the oldest races on the West Coast. In 1978, The Heart of San Diego Marathon, was created and thus there were 2 marathons in San Diego.
