Myanmar Chess Federation
The Myanmar Chess Federation ( my, မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ စစ်တုရင် အဖွဲ့ချုပ်) is the governing body for chess competition in Myanmar. Founded in 1972, it joined FIDE, the International Chess Federation, in 1990. It is also a member of the ASEAN Chess Confederation. Chess is a board game for two players, called White and Black, each controlling an army of chess pieces in their color, with the objective to checkmate the opponent's king. Aung San Stadium
The Bogyoke Aung San Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium, located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar. It was built as an athletic ground in 1906, which was completed in 1909 and named as Burma Athletic Association Ground, where many sports were held such as cricket, football and tennis. The runway was constructed in 1935. Sittuyin ( my, စစ်တုရင်), also known as Burmese chess, is a strategy board game created in Myanmar. It is a direct offspring of the Indian game of chaturanga, which arrived in Myanmar in the 8th century thus it is part of the same family of games such as chess, and shogi. ''Sit'' is the modern Burmese word for "army" or "war"; the word ''sittuyin'' can be translated as "representation of the four characteristics of army"—chariot, elephant, cavalry and infantry.
