Kjersti Stubø
Kjersti Aasan Stubø (born 25 April 1970) is a Norwegian Jazz musician vocalist, daughter and musical successor of Jazz guitarist Thorgeir Stubø (1943–1986), mother of elektronica musician Mathias Stubø (b. 1992), and sister of Jazz guitarist Håvard and theatre director Eirik Stubø. Career Stubø was born in Narvik, and studied jazz on the Jazz program at the Trondheim Music Conservatory (1991–93). Aged 14 she performed with her father, Thorgeir, who died from cancer two years later. During her studies in Trondheim she established her own Jazz orchestra ''Kjersti Stubø Band'' in 1991. Co-musicians on this project were Vigleik Storaas (piano), Tore Brunborg (saxophones), Odd Magne Gridseth (bass) and Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk (drums). Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. ''Oofotr II'' (released 2001 in Norway by Grappa Music, Heilo catalog - HCD 7169) is a Norwegian studioalbum by the band Oofotr performing traditional music from Ofoten like World Ambient in a Nordic Traditional style. Review ''Oofotr II'' is the second album from this acclaimed Norwegian jazz trio. The project of presenting electronic versions of traditional music from Ofoten in Nordland, is resilient and deserve attention. Keyboardist Jørn Øien and Arve Furset, drummer Ernst Wiggo Sandbakk and vocalist Kjersti Stubø creates intense soundscapes, heavily melody-based, but with a wide enough range of rhythms, harmonies, beats and timbres that they are far more interesting music to listen to, than a lot of other computer based music. The term ambient world is printed on the cover, and it may so be, but the album consists of a series of fine tunes anyway. Jørn Øien has done a wonderful job with the arrangements, ranging all the way from the playful riffs to steel blue textures associations with Gil Evans, Debussy and Messiaen. Oslo

Norwegians

Anders Bergcrantz (born 1961 in Malmö, Sweden) is a Swedish jazz trumpeter and composer. Bergcrantz has recorded several albums as a leader and on many more as a sideman. He has twice been awarded the Gyllene Skivan (the Golden Record) by Sweden's ''Orkesterjournalen'' jazz magazine: in 1995 for ''In This Together'', and again in 2007 for ''About Time''. Vigleik Storaas
Vigleik Storaas (born 2 February 1963) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer, and the younger brother of composer and bassist Gaute Storaas. He is known from a series of album releases and collaborations with jazz musicians such as Norma Winstone, Karin Krog, Terje Rypdal, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Chet Baker, Jack DeJohnette and Warne Marsh. Career Storås was born in Bergen, and studied music at the U-Phils High School in Bergen before attending the Jazz program at Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1982–84), what today is the Department of Music Technology (NTNU), where he was the leader of the Bodega Band (1990–1996), and is now Assistant Professor. Per Oddvar Johansen
Per Oddvar Johansen (born 1 March 1968) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (drummer), most recognized for his work with Trygve Seim, Christian Wallumrød, The Source, Solveig Slettahjell and Vigleik Storaas, but has also been awarded the Spellemannprisen five times. (in Norwegian) Career Johansen was born in Oslo, where he played in several rock bands before attending the Jazz Program at Trondheim Music Conservatory (1989–92). Olaf Kamfjord
Olaf Kamfjord (born December 8, 1962 in Tønsberg, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (double bass and guitar bass) and composer, known from co-operations within bands like "Ab und Zu", "Herrene i haven", "Out To Lunch" and "Roy Nikolaisen Quartet". Career Kamfjord was only 15 years of age when he started to play in a local trio in Tønsberg, led by guitarist Lars Martin Myhre, that later included singer Kari Astrup (Myhre/Astrup kvartett 1980–85). He participated in the "Amatørstorbandet" at Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 1981 and sat in with bands from Oslo the year after.
