Crash Test Dummies are a Canadian rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band is most identifiable through Brad Roberts (vocals, guitar) and his distinctive bass-baritone voice. The band members have fluctuated over the years, but its best known line-up consisted of Roberts, Ellen Reid (co-vocals, keyboards), Brad's brother Dan Roberts (bass guitar, backing vocals), Benjamin Darvill (harmonica, mandolin), and Mitch Dorge (drums, percussion). Mitch Dorge
Michel "Mitch" Dorge (born September 15, 1960) is a Canadian drummer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer. He has been the drummer with Crash Test Dummies since 1991, and has produced albums with the band, in addition to his solo work. Biography Dorge started taking drum lessons at age six. His first band consisted of an accordion player and him on drums. His friend moved to bass guitar and they jammed to Black Sabbath. He has been with the Crash Test Dummies since 1991, and has been credited as co-producer for both ''God Shuffled His Feet'' and ''A Worm's Life'', the former of which reached sales of almost eight million worldwide. Since 1999 Dorge has worked with Tuesday's Girl and Charlie Redstar as producer, engineer and drummer. The Canadian Singles Chart was a chart compiled by the American-based music sales tracking company, Nielsen SoundScan, which began publication in November 1996. It was published every Wednesday and also published on Thursday by '' Jam!''/Canoe. It was superseded by the '' Billboard''-published Canadian Hot 100 in 2007. History In the 1960s, the Canadian music industry was disparate and regionally focused, and English-speaking Canadian artists were often overlooked in favour of American acts. To encourage a more national focus and ensure that domestic artists were promoted across Canada, the Maple Leaf System (MLS) was set up in 1969. Dan Roberts (born May 22, 1967) is the bassist for the Canadian rock band, Crash Test Dummies, and brother of their lead singer, Brad Roberts. Biography Roberts joined Crash Test Dummies just before they began putting together their first album, ''The Ghosts That Haunt Me''. He got interested in joining after he heard the five song demo. He is known to enjoy photography, and his work was used on the album artwork for ''I Don't Care That You Don't Mind'' and ''Jingle All the Way''. In 2002 Dan played guitar for Ellen Reid on her '' Cinderellen'' tour and on that same year was involved with the recording of the Dummies' Christmas album titled, ''Jingle All The Way''.
