Mutla Ridge
The Mutla Ridge is located in Jahra Governorate. It is the most prominent elevation in Kuwait, standing at 466 feet (142 metres) high, while it is not the highest point in the country. History During the Gulf War, the Iraq forces were going to launch bombs while they were on the ridge to threaten Saudi Arabia. In February 1991, American aircraft attacked retreating Iraqi forces fleeing Kuwait in the direction of Basra on the " Highway of Death." Operation Desert Spring
Operation Desert Spring was part of an ongoing operation in Kuwait by the United States that was established on December 31, 1998, following Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. The mission objective is to maintain a forward presence and provide control and force protection over the military of Kuwait. Operation Desert Spring ended with the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom on 18 March 2003. Nasiriyah Airport is a public and military airport located 23 km (14 mi) southwest of Nasiriyah, Iraq. Highway Of Death
The Highway of Death ( ''ṭarīq al-mawt'') is a six-lane highway between Kuwait and Iraq, officially known as Highway 80. It runs from Kuwait City to the border town of Safwan in Iraq and then on to the Iraqi city of Basra. The road was used by Iraqi armored divisions for the 1990 invasion of Kuwait. It was repaired after the Gulf War and used by U.S. and British forces in the initial stages of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Al-Jahra Governorate ( ar, محافظة الجهراء Muḥāfaẓat al-Ǧahrāʾ) is one of the six Governorates of Kuwait. It is the largest Governorate in Kuwait. Basra ( ar, ٱلْبَصْرَة, al-Baṣrah) is an Iraqi city located on the Shatt al-Arab. It had an estimated population of 1.4 million in 2018.
