The Museum of Archaeology () is a history museum in Southern Taiwan Science Park, Sinshih District, Tainan, Taiwan. The museum is the branch of National Museum of Prehistory. History The soft opening of the museum was done on 26 December 2018. The ceremony was attended by Vice Culture Minister Lee Lien-chuan and a group of Siraya people. It was constructed with a cost of NT$1.5 billion. The museum was officially opened on 19 October 2019. Architecture The museum spans over an area of 24,000 m2. It was designed by architect Kris Yao. Exhibitions The museum displays artifacts of Taiwan's prehistory culture, as well as those found during the construction of Southern Taiwan Science Park. Sinshih District, Tainan
Sinshih District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (), alternatively spelled Xinshi, is a rural district in central Tainan, Taiwan, about 11 km north of Fort Provintia. As ''Sincan'', it was one of the most important stations of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in the 17th century. Missionary work formally began and the largest amount of inland trade occurred at Sinkan. Name The village name of Sincan has also been recorded as Sinckan, Cinckan, Xincan, and Zinckan. The place shares the same namesake as the Sinckan language and Sinckan Manuscripts. After the Kingdom of Tungning, the name was Sinicized into ''Sin-kang'' (). The Ministry of Culture (MOC, ) is the ministry of the Republic of China (Taiwan) that promotes cultural and creative industries. The ministry also maintains thNational Repository of Cultural Heritage History Established in 1981 by Executive Yuan, the ministry was initially called the Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA). The council was upgraded to ministerial level in May 2012 under the name Ministry of Culture. The ministry was inaugurated on 21 May 2012, in a ceremony attended by President Ma Ying-jeou, Premier Sean Chen and several prominent artists, including poet Chou Meng-tieh, film director Li Hsing and singer Lo Ta-yu. Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. It is an agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1097 km of track in Taiwan. Since Taiwan is heavily urbanised with a high population density, railways have played an important part in domestic transportation since the late 19th century. Siraya People
The Siraya () people are a Taiwanese indigenous people. The Siraya settled flat coastal plains in the southwest part of the island of Taiwan and corresponding sections of the east coast; the area is identified today with Tainan City and Taitung County. At least four communities make up the group: Mattauw, Soelangh, Baccloangh, and Sinckan. The first four communities correspond to the modern-day districts of Madou, Jiali, Shanhua, and Sinshih, respectively. The Siraya are Plains indigenous peoples (''Pingpu'') — that is, occupants of flat coastal regions rather than mountain areas. Like other indigenous peoples of Taiwan they are ethnically and linguistically Austronesian. The name "Taiwan" (historically ''Taiouwang'', and other variants) originated from the Siraya language. Southern Taiwan Science Park
The Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP; ) is a science park established by the government of Taiwan. It consists of Tainan Science Park and Kaohsiung Science Park , covering and , respectively. Overview The science park was first proposed at an Executive Yuan meeting on 1 July 1993, and the Southern Taiwan Science Park Development Plan was approved in May 1995. By 2000, 80% of the industrial land had been leased out. Thus, in May 2000 the Intellectual Science Park developed by the Taiwan Sugar Corporation (in Lujhu) was designated as the site of Luzhu Science Park.
