Museu De Belles Arts De València
The (; ; English: "Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia") is an art gallery in Valencia, Spain, founded in 1913. It houses some 2,000 works, most dating from the 14th–17th centuries, including a ''Self portrait of Diego Velázquez'', a ''St. John the Baptist'' by El Greco, Goya's ''Playing Children'', Gonzalo Pérez's '' Altarpiece of Sts. Ursula, Martin and Antony'' and a '' Madonna with Writing Child and Bishop'' by the Italian Renaissance master Pinturicchio. It houses a large series of engravings by Giovan Battista Piranesi. The museum is in the St. Pius V Palace, built in the 17th–18th centuries. It has also sections dedicated to sculpture, to contemporary art and to archaeological findings. Massimo Stanzione (also called Stanzioni; Frattamaggiore 1585 – Naples 1656) was an Italian Baroque painter, mainly active in Naples, where he and his rival Jusepe de Ribera dominated the painting scene for several decades. Vincente Juan Macip
Vicente Juan Masip (also known as Joan de Joanes) (15071579) was a Spanish painter of the Renaissance period. He is commonly considered the foremost member of the Valencian school of painters. Masip was born in La Font de la Figuera. His father was Vicente Masip ( Andilla 1475Valencia 1545), and his son was Vicente Masip Comes (–1623), known as Vicent de Joanes, who imitated his style. His two daughters, Dorotea Joanes (died 1609) and Margarita Joanes (d. 1613), were also painters. His most prominent pupil was Nicolas Borras. Bartolomé Bermejo
Bartolomé Bermejo ( 1440 – c.1501) was a Spanish painter who adopted Seventeen Provinces, Flemish painting techniques and conventions. Born in Cordoba, he is known for his work in the Crown of Aragon, including the Principality of Catalonia and the Kingdom of Valencia. His real name was Bartolomé de Cárdenas: the name ''Bermejo'', which means auburn in Spanish, possibly relates to his hair colour. The ''Madonna and Child with a Bishop'' is a painting by the Italian Renaissance master Pinturicchio, painted around 1495 and housed in the Museu de Belles Arts of Valencia, Spain. The work was painted in Rome, when Pinturicchio was the favorite painter of Pope Alexander VI. The pope's cousin, Francisco Borgia, commissioned a work to send to the family's chapel in the Collegiate of Xàtiva, in Spain, perhaps to celebrate his appointment as bishop of Teano (1495). The painting was long considered as the work of the artist's collaborators, due to the presence of 19th century repainting and yellowing: however, later restoration showed the delicate quality of the work and the sumptuousness of the style, typical of Pinturicchio.
