Murasaki Fujima
was a Japanese actress and dancer who also acted in more than 75 films. Dance career A child prodigy and daughter of the president of Nippon Medical School, Fujima ultimately became a Grand Master of the Fujima style, one of the five major schools of Japanese traditional dance, traditional Japanese dance. Following her 1985 divorce from Kanjuro Fujima, the 7th successor in the Fujima style’s lineage (whom she had met at age 12 and married in 1944), she started her own Murasaki sect in 1987. Fujima and longtime partner (and eventual husband) Ichikawa Ennosuke III, Ennosuke Ichikawa, a star of Kabuki theater, became a prominent couple in Japan’s arts community. In the 1990s Fujima portrayed China’s Empress Dowager Cixi to acclaim in a grand stage production. Hideo Gosha
was a Japanese film director. Born in Arasaka, Tokyo Prefecture, Gosha graduated from high school and served in the Imperial Navy during the Second World War. After earning a business degree at Meiji University, he joined Nippon television as a reporter in 1953. In 1957 he moved on to the newly founded Fuji Television and rose through the ranks as a producer and director. One of his television shows, the chambara ''Three Outlaw Samurai'', so impressed the heads of the Shochiku film studio that he was offered the chance to adapt it as a feature film in 1964. Following this film's financial success, he directed a string of equally successful chambara productions through the end of the 1960s. His two most critical and popular successes of the period are ''Goyokin'' and '' Hitokiri'' (also known as ''Tenchu''), both released in 1969 and both considered to be two of the finest examples of the chambara genre. is a Japanese film, theatre production and distribution company. It has its headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and is one of the core companies of the Osaka-based Hankyu Hanshin Toho Group. Hisaya Morishige
was a Japanese actor and comedian. Born in Hirakata, Osaka, he graduated from Kitano Middle School (now Kitano High School), and attended Waseda University. He began his career as a stage actor, then became an announcer for NHK, working in Manchukuo. He became famous in films first for comedy roles, appearing in series such as the "Company President" (''Shacho'') and "Station Front" (''Ekimae'') series, produced by Toho. He appeared in nearly 250 films, both contemporary and ''jidaigeki''. He was also famous on stage playing Tevye in the Japanese version of Fiddler on the Roof. He also appeared in television series and specials, and was the first guest on the television talk show ''Tetsuko's Room'' in 1975. He was long-time head of the Japan Actors Union. Among many honors, Morishige received the Order of Culture from the Emperor of Japan in 1991. The Approach Of Autumn
is a 1960 Japanese drama film directed by Mikio Naruse. Plot After the death of his father, Hideo and his mother Shigeko leave Ueda, Nagano, for Tokyo, where she starts a job at a ryokan, while Hideo moves in with his uncle's family. He befriends the slightly younger Junko, the daughter of Shigeko's employer Naoyo, herself the mistress of a married businessman who finances the ryokan.
