Larry Munson
Lawrence Harry Munson (September 28, 1922 – November 20, 2011) was an American sports announcer and talk-show host based out of the U.S. city of Athens, Georgia. He was best known for handling radio play-by-play of University of Georgia Bulldogs football games from 1966 to 2008. He also handled the play-by-play for UGA basketball and Atlanta Falcons radio broadcasts and hosted sports-related talk shows. Early life and career Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Munson attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and Minnesota State University Moorhead. While at MSUM, he played basketball as a center and guard and football as an end and tackle. Munson served as a United States Army medic in an Army Hospital during World War II. Upon leaving the military, he spent all $200 of his mustering-out pay to enroll in a Minneapolis radio broadcasting school. Hal Munson
Hal Munson (born Harold Todd Munson, Jr.) is a fictional character that appeared on the American soap opera '' As the World Turns''. He was played by Benjamin Hendrickson from 1985 to 2004 and 2005 to 2006. He was described as a "tough-but-gentle" police chief by ''People'' magazine. Casting Hendrickson was asked to play the role of Hal Munson by then head writer, Susan Bedsow Horgan. His tenure with the show ran until 2004, when he quit the show over a contract dispute. He returned to the show in 2005 with his character now being thrust into storylines which involved his children. The following year, Hendrickson died by suicide; he shot himself in the head. The show dealt with the death off-screen in October 2006 by having the character shot in the line of fire, and his family and friends celebrating his life and years in Oakdale. Thurman Lee Munson (June 7, 1947 – August 2, 1979) was an American professional baseball catcher who played 11 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the New York Yankees, from 1969 until his death in 1979. A seven-time All-Star, Munson had a career batting average of .292 with 113 home runs and 701 runs batted in (RBI). Loveland Munson (July 21, 1843 – March 24, 1921) was a Vermont attorney, politician and judge who served as President of the Vermont Senate and Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court. Biography Loveland Munson was born in Manchester, Vermont on July 21, 1843, the son of son of Cyrus and Lucy ( Loveland ) Munson. He attended the local schools and graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in 1862. Munson edited the ''Manchester Journal'' newspaper from 1863 to 1866 while studying law with Elias B. Burton, was admitted to the bar in 1866, and practiced with Burton in Manchester as the firm of Burton & Munson. A Republican, Munson served as Manchester's Town Clerk from 1866 to 1873, and Bennington County's Register of Probate from 1866 to 1876.
