Hal Munson
Hal Munson (born Harold Todd Munson, Jr.) is a fictional character that appeared on the American soap opera ''As the World Turns''. He was played by Benjamin Hendrickson from 1985 to 2004 and 2005 to 2006. He was described as a "tough-but-gentle" police chief by ''People'' magazine. Casting Hendrickson was asked to play the role of Hal Munson by then head writer, Susan Bedsow Horgan. His tenure with the show ran until 2004, when he quit the show over a contract dispute. He returned to the show in 2005 with his character now being thrust into storylines which involved his children. The following year, Hendrickson died by suicide; he shot himself in the head. The show dealt with the death off-screen in October 2006 by having the character shot in the line of fire, and his family and friends celebrating his life and years in Oakdale. Benjamin Hendrickson
Benjamin Hendrickson (August 26, 1950 – July 3, 2006) was an American actor known for playing Harold "Hal" Munson Jr., the Chief of Detectives for the fictional town of Oakdale on the daytime soap opera ''As the World Turns.'' Theater and film Hendrickson was born in Huntington, New York. He studied at the Juilliard School as part of the institution's first drama division class and was a founding member of John Houseman's The Acting Company. Prior to his television appearances, Hendrickson acted in theatre. From 1973 to 1984, he appeared in a host of productions that included ''The Elephant Man'' (taking over the title part in 1981 after serving as David Bowie's understudy), ''Awake and Sing'' and ''Strider''. Margo Hughes
Margo Hughes is a fictional character on the daytime soap opera '' As the World Turns'', a show about working life in the fictional town of Oakdale. She was first played by Margaret Colin, and then by Hillary B. Smith for six years. However the actress most recognized for the role is Ellen Dolan, who played the character from December 18, 1989 until 2010, with a break from January 1993 to June 1994. Margo's storylines often focus on family dramas and police matters. The character is portrayed as a stoic, hard-nosed, determined and level-headed character, who in later years has begun interfering in the lives of her children. Dustin "Dusty" Donovan is a fictional character on CBS's daytime drama ''As the World Turns.'' He was recently portrayed by Grayson McCouch from February 18, 2003, to January 18, 2008. McCouch returned to the role on September 24, 2008. John Dixon M.D. is a fictional character on the American TV soap opera, ''As the World Turns''. He was portrayed by Larry Bryggman from July 18, 1969 until December 14, 2004.
