Mundheim
Mundheim is a small village in the municipality of Kvam in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the southern part of the municipality, along the Hardangerfjorden, just northwest of the island of Varaldsøy. The village sits at the junction of two county roads (''fylkesvei''). Fv48 runs through Mundheim from Gjermundshamn (south) to Eikelandsosen (north) and Fv49 runs northeast to Ploganes and Norheimsund. History Historically, Mundheim was part of the parish of Strandebarm. When municipalities were established in Norway in 1838, Mundheim was part of Strandebarm municipality. On 1 January 1902, the new municipality of Varaldsøy was created by separating it from Strandebarm. Robert Mundheim
Robert Harry Mundheim (born February 24, 1933) is an American attorney and law professor. He is former Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, General Counsel of the U.S. Treasury Department, Co-Chairman of the law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, General Counsel of Salomon, Inc., and Fred Carr Professor of Law and Financial Institutions at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He was honored by the ''American Lawyer'' in 2014 as a "Lifetime Achiever." The University of Pennsylvania Law School has an endowed chair named after him, "the Robert Mundheim Professor of Law." Varaldsøy
Varaldsøy is an island (and village) in the municipality of Kvinnherad in Vestland county, Norway. The island is the largest island in the Hardangerfjorden. Most of the inhabitants live on the southern tip of the island in the village of Varaldsøy, where Varaldsøy Church is located. The tall mountain ''Øyefjellet'' is the highest point on the island. History The island was historically a part of Strandebarm municipality until 1902 when it was transferred to the new Varaldsøy Municipality. The island made up the majority of the municipality (plus some of the mainland to the west and north). Strandebarm
Strandebarm is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county, Norway. The original municipality was large, spanning both sides of the central part of the Hardangerfjorden. It also included the island of Varaldsøy. Over time, the municipality was divided and by the time of its dissolution in 1965, it was . The municipality included land in the present-day municipalities of Ullensvang, Kvam, and Kvinnherad. Norheimsund is the administrative centre of the municipality of Kvam in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern side of the Hardangerfjord, about from the city of Bergen. The village of Øystese lies about to the northeast and the village of Vikøy lies about southeast of Norheimsund. The village of Steine is a suburb, immediately to the west of Norheimsund.
