Mullingar is a locality in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It is a suburb of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. At the 2016 census, Mullingar had a population of 305 people, down from 343 in 2011. Geography Mullingar is wedge-shaped, with its northern boundary an east-west line approximately north of the Kalgoorlie town centre. Its western boundary runs north-northwest along the Leonora branch line of Eastern Goldfields Railway, while the eastern boundary of the locality runs north-east, roughly parallel to (and briefly along) Yarri Road. Hannans North Tourist Mine
The Australian Prospectors & Miners' Hall of Fame is a hall of fame that recognises significant figures in the history of Australia's mining industry. It was established in 2001 at a site on the Goldfields Highway at Mullingar, on the outskirts of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. It closed due to financial difficulties in 2011, and now exists primarily as a web-based resource. Overview The Inductees to the Mining Hall of Fame number over 100. The institution was, after various proposals, started in Kalgoorlie in 1995. In 1997 there was an architectural competition for the design. In 1999 it was combined with the Hannans North Tourist Mine. With fundraising committees established in every state of Australia and sponsorship from the government and the mining industry, A$25 million were raised for the project. Eastern Goldfields
The Eastern Goldfields is part of the Western Australian Goldfields in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, covering the present and former gold-mining area east of Perth. Extent and name origin The region encompasses the towns of Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Coolgardie, Kambalda, Southern Cross and other smaller settlements within this area. Henry Charles Richards
Henry Charles Richards (10 April 1851 – 1 June 1905) was a British barrister and Conservative Party politician. The son of Frederick Richards, JP, of Ore and St Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex. He was educated at the City of London School and the Proprietary School, Gravesend. He entered employment as a clerk for the firm of Munt Brown and Co., hat and bonnet makers, in the City of London. After fifteen years he was awarded the Bacon Scholarship to study law at Gray's Inn in 1879. He was called to the bar in 1881. He worked as counsel for the Postmaster-General and for the London County Council. In 1898 he "took silk" to become a Queen's Counsel. From 1882 to 1885 he was one of the City's representatives on the London School Board. He was elected a bencher of Gray's Inn and was treasurer in the year before his death. Mullingar
Mullingar ( ; ) is the county town of County Westmeath in Ireland. It is the third most populous town in the Midland Region, with a population of 20,928 in the 2016 census. The Counties of Meath and Westmeath Act 1543 proclaimed Westmeath a county, separating it from Meath. Mullingar became the administrative centre for County Westmeath. The town was originally named ''Maelblatha'', and takes its modern name from a mill noted in the legend of Colman of Mullingar. Goldfields Highway
Goldfields Highway is a generally northwest–southeast highway in central Western Australia which links the Great Northern Highway at Meekatharra with Coolgardie-Esperance Highway south of Kalgoorlie. The highway is approximately in length, and is designated as ''Alternate National Route 94'' from Kalgoorlie to Coolgardie–Esperance Highway. A large section of the highway, from Meekatharra to Wiluna, is not a sealed road . A project to upgrade Goldfields Highway by sealing this portion, over a three-year period, was scheduled to start in the 2017/18 financial year with $60 million of funding through Royalties for Regions. Leonora, Western Australia
Leonora is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located northeast of the state capital, Perth, and north of the city of Kalgoorlie. History The first European explorer to visit the area was John Forrest in 1869. On 21 June 1869 Forrest's party made camp near a conspicuous hill, which Forrest named Mount Leonora, after his six-year-old niece Frances (Fanny) Leonora Hardey. In 1895, gold was discovered in the area by prospector Edward "Doodah" Sullivan at the Johannesburg lease just north of the current townsite. Kalgoorlie is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia.
