Mujibur Rahman (officer, Born 1968)
Mujibur Rahman SBP, OSP, PBGMS, PPMS, ndc, psc is a Lieutenant general in the Bangladesh Army and Quartermaster General (QMG) of the Bangladesh Army in Army Headquarters. Prior to that, he was the longest serving director general of the Special Security Force. He came to limelight in 2016, as the Operational Commander who carried out July 2016 Dhaka attack, Operation Thunderbolt during the July 2016 Dhaka attack, Holey Artisan Attack. He is also the recipient of List of Bangla Academy Literary Award recipients (2020-2029), Bangla Academy Literary Award 2023. Early life Rahman was born on 16 June 1968 in Narayanganj District. His father, AKM Bazlur Rahman was a valiant freedom fighter, devoted language movement activist, close companion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recipient of Independence Award. Lieutenant General (Bangladesh)
Lieutenant General (abbreviated as Lt. Gen. and in contraction simply known as 'general') is a senior rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the second-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of lieutenant general. It is also considered a 3 star rank. Till 2007 it was the highest rank in the Bangladesh Armed Forces as all chiefs of army staff held this rank and navy and air chiefs were of two-star ranks. Lieutenant general is a higher rank than Major General, but lower than General. Lieutenant general is the equivalent of vice admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and air marshal in the Bangladesh Air Force. Ziaur Rahman was the first person to hold this rank as prior to him first army chief K M Shafiullah was Major-General and M. A. G.
