Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti
Justice Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti (August 1948– 10 July 2006) who hailed from Sangla Hill area of Sheikhupura district was a Pakistani judge and lawyer. He was a judge of Lahore High Court, Lahore, (Punjab) Pakistan and a well known criminal lawyer and law officer representing the governments of Punjab and Pakistan. He was appointed as an Additional Advocate General Punjab in 1998–1999 earlier he also served as an Assistant Advocate General Punjab twice in 1993 and 1997. He was appointed as Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan from 2000 to 2004, when he was sworn in as a judge of the Lahore High Court in Multan on January 12, 2004. He died in a plane crash near Multan Airport on 10 July 2006, while he was serving as judge. The plane burst into flames shortly after takeoff and landed in a wheat field three kilometres from the airport. His funeral was attended by hundreds including his fellow judges. The Lahore High Court () is based in Lahore, Pakistan. It was established as a high court on 21 March 1882. The Lahore High Court has jurisdiction over Punjab (Pakistan). The High Court's principal seat is in Lahore, but there are benches in three other Pakistani cities: Rawalpindi, Multan and Bahawalpur. A proposal was sent by lawyers to set up new high court benches in Faisalabad, Sialkot, D.G.Khan and Gujranwala divisions but full court of Lahore High Court turned down this request. Multan
Multan (; ) is a city in Punjab, Pakistan, on the bank of the Chenab River. Multan is Pakistan's seventh largest city as per the 2017 census, and the major cultural, religious and economic centre of southern Punjab. Pakistan International Airlines Flight 688
Pakistan International Airlines Flight 688 was a domestic passenger flight from Multan to Islamabad with a stopover in Lahore, operated by Pakistan's flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines. On 10 July 2006, the aircraft operating the route, a Fokker F27, crashed into a mango garden after one of its two engines failed shortly after takeoff from Multan International Airport. All 41 passengers and four crewmembers on board were killed. Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) attributed the causes of the crash to multiple factors. One of the engines started to malfunction during the take-off roll due to improper assembly. Despite the aircraft being able to stop within the remaining runway distance, the pilots opted to continue their take-off. The Lahore High Court Bar Association ( ur, ) is situated in Lahore. Lahore Bar (presently Lahore High Court Bar) as a collective group took birth somewhere before 1892-93 and its first President was elected in 1893.
