Mudvayne is an American heavy metal band formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1996. Known for their sonic experimentation, face and body paint, masks and uniforms, the band has sold over six million records worldwide, including nearly three million in the United States. The group consists of guitarist Greg Tribbett, drummer Matthew McDonough, lead vocalist Chad Gray, and bassist Ryan Martinie. The band became popular in the late-1990s Peoria, Illinois underground music scene, and found success with the single " Dig" from their debut album '' L.D. 50'' (2000). Matthew McDonough
Matthew McDonough (born March 12, 1969) is an American drummer best known as a member of the heavy metal band Mudvayne. He is the band's original drummer and has appeared and performed on every release by Mudvayne. He was also the original drummer of Audiotopsy since 2015 until his departure in 2021. He holds a respected place in the world of drumming for his signature drumming style. Early life McDonough was born in Rockford, Illinois, he attended Rockford East High School and was a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. He was previously in a band called ''On the Shoulders of Giants''; as well as a band called Daed Kcis. He also lived in Washington, IL and went to Washington Community High School. Chad Gray
Chad Gray (born October 16, 1971) is an American singer, best known as the lead vocalist of heavy metal bands Mudvayne and Hellyeah. Career Mudvayne Gray quit his factory job that paid $40,000 a year to move to Peoria, Illinois and formed Mudvayne. The band's first album, '' L.D. 50'', was released in 2000 to unexpected success, selling over half a million copies within a year of its release. Mudvayne went on to become one of the most successful heavy metal acts of the 2000s, and released four more studio albums—'' The End of All Things to Come'' (2002), ''Lost and Found'' (2005), '' The New Game'' (2008) and ''Mudvayne'' (2009)—before going on hiatus in 2010. Greg Tribbett
Gregory Arnold Tribbett Jr. (born November 7, 1968) is an American guitarist who is one of the founding members, lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the metal band Mudvayne. He is also the former lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the metal bands Audiotopsy and Hellyeah. He's been with Mudvayne from their inception in 1996 until their dissolution in 2010, and again from 2021 to now. He has named Randy Rhoads as the guitarist who most influenced him. Ryan Martinie
Ryan Martinie (born August 6, 1975) is an American musician, best known as the bassist for heavy metal band Mudvayne. Early life Ryan Martinie was born on August 6, 1975, in Peoria, Illinois. Career Mudvayne In 1996, Mudvayne was formed. They initially had a different bass player, Shawn Allen (Barclay was a joke name for insiders). In 1997, still with Shawn as their bass player, Mudvayne released their first EP, ''Kill, I Oughta''. The band released five studio albums in their career, and remained active until 2010 when they went on an indefinite hiatus. Kill, I Oughtta
''Kill, I Oughtta '' is the debut extended play of American heavy metal band Mudvayne. It was self-released by the band in 1997. In 2001, the EP was reissued by Epic Records under the title ''The Beginning of All Things to End''. The reissue featured, as additional tracks, remixes of "Dig", the rare unreleased track "Fear", and "L.D. 50", a 17-minute sound collage which originally appeared as interludes on that album. It is the only release by Mudvayne to have any participation from original bassist Shawn Barclay. Music and lyrics According to Matthew McDonough, the EP was "thrown together" for the band's fans. It consists of five studio tracks originally intended for a demo, and three live tracks. No studio versions exist for the three live tracks "I.D.I.O.T.", "Central Disposal" and "Coal". "Dig" a song by American heavy metal music, heavy metal band Mudvayne, released in 2000 as the band's debut single it appears on the band's debut studio album ''L.D. 50 (album), L.D. 50'' (2000). Background and meaning The song was written by lead singer Chad Gray about his grandmother and how she was being neglected by her family because she was getting old and nobody cared when she had an illness except Chad. Garth "GGGarth" Richardson is a Canadian record producer and music engineer. He is the son of music producer Jack Richardson (Alice Cooper, The Guess Who, Badfinger, Poco), a pioneer of the music recording industry in the 1960s and 1970s. Garth Richardson has done music engineering work for the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, and Mötley Crüe, and produced for Kittie, Biffy Clyro, Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne, Melvins, Shihad, Kensington, and many others. Shawn Crahan
Michael Shawn Crahan (born September 24, 1969), more commonly known by his stage persona "Clown", is an American musician. He is the co-founder and one of two percussionists for heavy metal band Slipknot in which he is designated #6. Crahan helped found Slipknot in 1995 along with Paul Gray and Joey Jordison. As of 2022, Crahan is the only remaining founding member of Slipknot.
