Shawn Crahan
Michael Shawn Crahan (born September 24, 1969), more commonly known by his stage persona "Clown", is an American musician. He is the co-founder, percussionist, and only original member remaining of the alternative metal band Slipknot (band), Slipknot, in which he is designated #6. He helped form Slipknot in 1995 alongside bassist Paul Gray (American musician), Paul Gray and former vocalist Anders Colsefni, although a lot of what Slipknot became came from Paul Gray and Joey Jordison. Crahan is the longest-serving member of the band, and also has extensive involvement with Slipknot's media production and music videos. Outside Slipknot, Crahan had two side project bands called To My Surprise and Dirty Little Rabbits. Jim Root
James Donald Root (born October 2, 1971) is an American guitarist. He is one of two guitarists for heavy metal band Slipknot, in which he is designated #4, as well as the former lead guitarist for rock band Stone Sour. Life and career Root began performing with the thrash metal band Atomic Opera from Iowa in the early 1990s (not to be confused with the hard rock band of the same name from Texas). Soon after they split up, he went on to perform in bands such as DeadFront and Stone Sour; he joined the latter in 1995, and returned to it along with vocalist Corey Taylor during its revival in 2002. Prior to joining Slipknot, he worked as a screenprinter, waiter, and busboy. He joined Slipknot in January 1999, replacing their original guitarist, Josh Brainard, who left the band during the recording of their self-titled album, reportedly after having fulfilled his recording duties. To My Surprise (album)
''To My Surprise'' is the only album by American alternative rock band To My Surprise. Released on October 7, 2003 by Roadrunner Records, it was the only album that the band released before disbanding in 2006. The album was intended to be self-produced by Shawn Crahan and Brandon Darner, but after producer Rick Rubin was sent demos by Crahan, Rubin invited the band to Los Angeles where he assumed the role of executive producer. Following the release of the album, a music video was released for the song "In The Mood" on December 1. The album was generally well received by critics, who remarked on its diversity and significantly different musical style to that of drummer Crahan's other band Slipknot. They noted that it features music inspired by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Weezer, among others. However the album did not appear on any sales charts. Gizmachi
Gizmachi is an American heavy metal band from Newburgh, New York, formed in 1998. They are signed to Big Orange Clown Records, a subsidiary of Sanctuary Records owned by Shawn "Clown" Crahan. Gizmachi was one of the bands on the second stage of Ozzfest in 2005. The band had Soilwork frontman Björn "Speed" Strid handle the vocals on their most recent album, 2021's ''Omega Kaleid'', which was produced/engineered by Jay Hannon (Byzantine, Gods Below Us) and mixed by Mark Lewis (DevilDriver, The Black Dahlia Murder). Strid commented of his involvement: "Being a part of the new Gizmachi record was one of the most challenging adventures I've experienced. I can honestly say that I've grown as a metal singer since recording these vocals." Metalcore
Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s. Sanctuary Records Group Limited was a record label based in the United Kingdom and is, as of 2013, a subsidiary of BMG Rights Management solely for reissues. Until June 2007, it was the largest independent record label in the UK and the largest music management company in the world. Big Orange Clown Records is a Des Moines, Iowa-based record label founded by Shawn Crahan of the band Slipknot. History The label was launched in Des Moines, Iowa in 2003. Crahan has said that he is always thinking about the future and he loves music, so starting a record label and producing albums was a natural step for him. During an interview with ''Billboard'' Crahan said that he's interested in signing artists from any genre and he's "looking for people who dig into their souls and they mean it." Ozzfest was an annual music festival tour of the United States and sometimes Europe and later Japan, featuring performances by many heavy metal music, heavy metal and hard rock musical groups. It was founded by Sharon Osbourne and her husband Ozzy Osbourne, both of whom also organised each yearly tour with their son Jack Osbourne, and was held almost annually between 1996 and 2018.
