Muay Thai Super Champ
Muay Thai Super Champ ( th, มวยไทยซุปเปอร์แชมป์), known as LWC Super Champ (Lumpinee World Championship Super Champ), is a weekly Muay Thai program that broadcasts live on Thai television in Bangkok. Unlike weekly traditional Muay Thai programs, Super Champ features three-round Muay Thai fights. In 2023, the program changed its name to ''LWC Super Champ'' and its venue to Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. History Muay Thai Super Champ The ''Super Champ'' was formed in Bangkok in 2018 after the separation of the Channel 8 TV coverage team from Max Muay Thai. ''Super Champ'' fight cards exclusively consist of three-round fights in order to encourage fighters start quickly and constantly be active, in addition to present a television-friendly format of Muay Thai. Lumpinee Boxing Stadium
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium ( th, สนามเวทีมวยลุมพินี) is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The stadium is named after Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. Opened more than a decade later than Rajadamnern Stadium, Lumpinee is run by the Royal Thai Army. It has become the symbol of modern Muay Thai. Only Rajadamnern Stadium rivals the prestige of holding the title of "Muay Thai Champion of Lumpinee". The ranking system and championship titles are held from mini flyweight (105 lb) up to super welterweight (154 lb). Muay Thai bouts are held on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The fights usually start around 18:00. The final event at its original site on Rama IV Road near Lumphini Park was held on 8 February 2014. Boxing Ring
A boxing ring, often referred to simply as a ring or the squared circle, is the space in which a boxing match occurs. A modern ring consists of a square raised platform with a post at each corner. Four ropes are attached to the posts and pulled parallel under tension with turnbuckles to form the boundary of the competition area. Sarama (Thai Music)
Sarama ( th, สะระหม่า) is the music that accompanies the pre-fight ritual of Muay Thai matches (known interchangeably as ''Wai khru ram muay'' or ''Ram muay''). Terminology "Sarama" specifically refers to the song played during the pre-fight ritual; subsequent music accompanying is referred to as Phleng Muay (). The music is performed by up to four musicians, consisting of a Pi (quadruple-reed instrument - similar to Oboe) player, a pair of Klong khaek players, and a cymbal player (referred to as "ching"). During the Ram Muay the tempo of the music starts out slow and stately to match the mood of the ritual. When the fight commences the tempo is increased and matches the intensity of the audience and action. The music is a defining part of the atmosphere of traditional Muay Thai; other international forms of kickboxing do not feature music in a similar way.
