Mrigthuni ( hi, मृगथूनी) is a mountain of Kumaon Himalaya in Uttarakhand, India. Mrigthuni standing majestically at 6855 meter 22,490 feet. Its joint 28th highest located entirely within the Uttarakhand, India. Nanda Devi is the highest mountain in this category. It is the 394th highest peak in the world. It is located at the southern rim of Nanda Devi Sanctuary. Tharkot is a mountain of the Kumaon division, Kumaon Himalaya in Uttarakhand India. It is situated near the southern rim of Nanda Devi Sanctuary. The elevation of Tharkot is and its prominence is . Devtoli (Hindi: देवटोली) is a mountain of Kumaon Himalaya located in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand,India. It stands at . It is 36th highest located entirely within Uttarakhand. Joyce Dunsheath
Joyce Dunsheath (8 November 1902 – 30 July 1976), née Cissie Providence Houchen, was an English mountaineer, traveller, explorer and writer. Family Born in Heigham, near Norwich, she was the daughter of Charles Houchen, insurance clerk, and Gertrude Providence, née Balls. She married in 1938 the renowned electrical engineer Percy Dunsheath (1886–1979) who was a widower. Joyce had met of his first wife during a skiing holiday in the Austrian Alps. She and Percy shared a love for travel, mountaineering and exploration. They made their home at St Paul, Abinger Hammer, Surrey. Education & awards She obtained a Degree in Modern Languages at Bedford College, University of London, in 1924. She was a member of the Alpine Club from 1951. Gurdial Singh (mountaineer)
Gurdial Singh (born 1 January 1924) is an Indian mountaineer who led the first mountaineering expedition of independent India to Trisul (7,120 metres) in 1951. In 1958, he led the team that made the first ascent of Mrigthuni (6,855 metres). In 1965, he was a member of the first successful Indian expedition team to climb Mount Everest. Singh also led many expeditions at The Doon School, where he was a teacher, and along with other Doon masters and students was instrumental in establishing a mountaineering culture in post-Independence India. Singh has been described as "the first true Indian mountaineer", and in 2020, the Himalayan Journal noted "Gurdial climbed for pleasure, to enjoy the mountains in the company of friends, to savour the beauty and grandeur of the high ranges, not to find fame or bag summits." Trisul
Trisul is a group of three Himalayan mountain peaks of western Kumaun, Uttarakhand, with the highest (Trisul I) reaching 7120m. The three peaks resemble a trident - in Sanskrit, Trishula, trident, is the weapon of Shiva. The Trishul group forms the southwest corner of the ring of peaks enclosing the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, about west-southwest of Nanda Devi itself. The main peak, Trisul I, was the first peak over to have ever been climbed, in 1907. Description of the massif and neighbouring peaks The three peaks are named Trisul I, Trisul II, and Trisul III. The massif is a north-south ridge, with Trisul I at the north end and Trisul III at the south. The massif runs roughly North-South, and hence appears compressed when viewed from the south (Ranikhet, Kausani), and more stretched out from the Southeast (Chamoli, Bedini Bugyal). Rishiganga is a river in the Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. It springs from the Uttari Nanda Devi Glacier on the Nanda Devi mountain. It is also fed from the Dakshini Nanda Devi Glacier.
