Charles Mozley
Charles Alfred Mozley (29 May 1914 – 11 January 1991) was a British artist who was also a teacher. He was a prolific book illustrator and designer of book covers, posters and prints. Biography Mozley was born in Darnall, Sheffield, and, while still a schoolboy, attended the Sheffield School of Art. An exhibition of his artworks were held at the Hibbert Brothers Gallery in the city in 1933. After spending 1933 teaching in Sheffield, Mozley won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art, RCA, in 1934. When he left the RCA in 1937, Mozley taught life drawing, anatomy and lithography at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. He also quickly established himself as a freelance artist. At the start of the Second World War, Mozley joined the British Army and worked for military intelligence and on camouflage designs. Thomas Mozley
Thomas Mozley (1806June 17, 1893), was an English clergyman and writer associated with the Oxford Movement. Early life Mozley was born at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, the son of a bookseller and publisher. His brother, James Bowling Mozley, would become known for his own theological works. From Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Gainsborough and Charterhouse School he progressed to Oriel College, Oxford in 1825, where he became the pupil, and subsequently the great friend, of John Henry Newman. In 1831 he was ordained, after which he became curate of Colchester, leaving a year later to take over the rectorship of Moreton Pinkney. He asked to leave four years later and in 1836 became rector of Cholderton, Wiltshire. In September of that year, he married Newman's younger sister Harriet, creating a family connection to his mentor. Loren Mozley (October 2, 1905 – September 22, 1989) was an artist of the American Southwest. John Kenneth Mozley (8 January 1883 – 23 November 1946), also known as J. K. Mozley, was an English Anglican priest, theologian, and academic. Bert Mozley (23 September 1923 – 28 October 2019) was an English international footballer who spent his entire professional career with hometown club Derby County. James Bowling Mozley
James Bowling Mozley (15 September 1813 – 4 January 1878) was an English theologian. He was born at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, the younger brother of Thomas Mozley, and was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School (now Queen Elizabeth's High School, Gainsborough) and later Oriel College, Oxford. Mozley was elected to a fellowship at Magdalen in 1840. He took an active part in the Oxford Movement. He said he could no more follow John Henry Newman, his brother-in-law, into the Roman communion "than fly." He was joint editor of the ''Christian Remembrancer''. He withdrew from the position because of his substantial agreement with the famous Gorham decision. Mozley was one of the earliest supporters of ''The Guardian'', the High Church weekly. In 1856 he became vicar of Shoreham, in 1869 canon of Worcester, and in 1871 regius professor of divinity at Oxford. He died at Shoreham on 4 January 1878. Norman Adolphus Mozley (December 11, 1865 – May 9, 1922) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri's 14th congressional district. Born on a farm in Johnson County, Illinois, Mozley attended the common schools. He moved to Stoddard County, Missouri, in 1887 and taught school. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1891 and practiced in Bloomfield, Missouri. Mozley was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1895 – March 3, 1897). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1896. He resumed the practice of law in Bloomfield, Missouri. He served as commissioner of the State supreme court in 1919–1921. He moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and continued the practice of his profession. He served as delegate to the State constitutional convention of 1921 and 1922.
