Mountains Of Sis
The Mountains of Sis ( ca, Serra de Sis, or ''Serra del Cis'') ( es, Sierra de Sis) is a long mountain range of the Pre-Pyrenees. They are located between the valleys of rivers Isábena and the Escales Reservoir, Noguera Ribagorzana, in the Ribagorza comarca, Aragon, Spain. The ridge's highest summits are Pico de l´Amorriador (1791 m) and Puialto (1782 m). Other important summits are 1765 m high La Creu de Bonansa, 1490 m high Altaió d'Aulet and 1066 m high Tossal de Cornudella. Geography This mountain chain rises abruptly from a plain and looks quite impressive from certain angles, therefore in ancient geographic works this range was also referred to as "the Great Mountains of Sis" ( es, la gran sierra de Sis) owing to the massive appearance of its mountains, abruptly rising as mighty foothills of the Pyrenees. Ribagorça
Ribagorça () or Ribagorza (; french: Rives Gorces) is a historical and natural region of Aragon and Catalonia. Located in the Pre-Pyrenees and Pyrenees area, most of its territory is mountainous. The region has been steadily losing population since mid 20th century. The Noguera Ribagorçana river is named after this region. Geography The region is located south of the French border with the Pallars in the east and the Sobrarbe in the west. The physiography of the Ribagorça natural region includes the Ésera, Isábena and Noguera Ribagorçana river basins with their tributaries. The region also encompasses the mountain ranges spanning the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees area that surrounds the basins of these south-flowing rivers. El Turbón
El Turbón is a mountain massif of the Pre-Pyrenees, located in the province of Huesca, the most northerly province in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. This long mountain is aligned N - S. It is fairly easy to climb El Turbón, but it is better not to do so in mid summer when this great expanse of naked rock can reach very high temperatures.
