Mount White-Fraser
Mount White-Fraser is a glaciated mountain located in the Boundary Ranges of British Columbia, Canada. It is situated north-northwest of Stewart, and northwest of Mount Bayard. Precipitation runoff from the peak and meltwater from the surrounding Salmon Glacier drains into the Salmon River. The mountain was named by the International Boundary Survey for one of its own members, George White-Fraser (1872-1920), who also served with the Canadian Infantry in France during World War I. The mountain's name was officially adopted March 31, 1924. Boundary Ranges
The Boundary Ranges, also known in the singular and as the Alaska Boundary Range, are the largest and most northerly subrange of the Coast Mountains. They begin at the Nass River, near the southern end of the Alaska Panhandle in the Canadian province of British Columbia and run to the Kelsall River, near the Chilkoot Pass, beyond which are the Alsek Ranges of the Saint Elias Mountains, and northwards into the Yukon Territory flanking the west side of the Yukon River drainage as far as Champagne Pass, north of which being the Yukon Ranges. To their east are the Skeena Mountains and Stikine Plateau of the Interior Mountains complex that lies northwest of the Interior Plateau; the immediately adjoining subregion of the Stikine Plateau is the Tahltan Highland. Granduc Mine
Overlooking the Salmon Glacier, the Granduc Mine is a large copper mine which is situated on a rock ridge between a glacier and a cliff, some north of Stewart, BC at the north end of Summit Lake. It was an active mine from 1964 to 1984, having closed due to low copper prices. Location The mine and its camp are inside the District Municipality of Stewart, connected by an access road connected to Hyder, Alaska and is situated on the Portland inlet. The mine site at Granduc has 17 km of access tunnel and a 54 km haulage road, which saw upgrades that began in June 2011. Exploration First discovered in 1931, the property saw limited exploration in 1991 and again 1993 after its dormancy until 2005 when new exploration reopened interest in the property. Two-thousanders are mountains that have a height of at least 2,000 metres above sea level, but less than 3,000 metres.
