Mount Waverley Football Club
The Mount Waverley Football & Netball Club is a semi-professional Australian rules football club in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The club participates in the Southern Football Netball League. History In 1974 the Mount Waverley Catholic Football Club first entered a team in the YCWNFA football competition. They competed in the c south section and made the Preliminary final losing to glen Waverley by 10 points. The following year the club had transferred to the Eastern Suburban Churches FA and debuted in 'E' Grade. In 1978 saw the first success for the young club as they won the 'D' grade premiership by 27 points defeating Chadstone Salesian. Automatically promoted to 'C' grade the following year they team again made the Grand Final only to be defeated by St Andrews Presbyterians by 12 points. As by association rules, both grand finalists get promoted, the ''Mountain Lions'' survived six seasons in 'B' grade before being relegated down to 'C' grade again. They were ... The Southern Football Netball League is an Australian rules football league, based in the south and south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, for both seniors and juniors. History The ''South East Suburban Football League'' was formed in 1963 as a merger of the Caulfield Oakleigh District Football League with the East Suburban Football League after a number of its clubs moved to the Croydon Ferntree Gully FL (now Eastern Football League (Australia), Eastern Football League). When the Federal Football League folded at the end of 1981, the SESFL had twenty clubs. After the addition of all but one of the Federal clubs for 1982, the league had a 16 team A grade, and a 12 team B grade competition. The league twice tried 3 divisions but the idea was later dropped as clubs left or folded. In a major project in 1991, the league underwent a major revamp of its administration and opted to employ a full-time administrator and staff to manage the league's affairs. The League's adminis ... Waverley Football Club, nicknamed the Panthers, were an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1961 until 1987. Waverley wore red and black as their club colours and was based at Central Reserve in the Melbourne suburb of Glen Waverley, Victoria, Glen Waverley. History Waverley Football Club Waverley started out in the Caulfield-Oakleigh District League as the Glen Waverley Football Club, and in 1961 joined the newly formed VFA 2nd Division. The Eastern Football Netball League (known previously as the Eastern Districts Football League and later the Eastern Football League) is an Australian rules football league, based in the eastern suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne. History The Eastern Districts Football League was established on 15 February 1962, but its origins can be traced back to the Reporter District Football League established in 1903. From 1927 until World War 2, the league was known as the Ringwood District Football League. It was known as the Croydon District Football League and the Croydon Mail Football League between World War 2 and 1949. In 1950 the league became known as the Croydon-Ferntree Gully League.
