Mount Mingus
Mount Mingus is a mountain located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is part of the Great Smoky Mountains subrange of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which is, in turn, part of the Appalachian Mountains. Its elevation is above sea level. Description The summit of Mount Mingus is a rounded knob that reaches an elevation of above mean sea level. It is located about south of Newfound Gap Road (U.S. Route 441), the main thoroughfare through the national park, from the Tennessee- North Carolina state line and the Appalachian Trail, and west of Newfound Gap. Sugarland Mountain Trail
The Sugarland Mountain Trail is an American hiking trail, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park of Sevier County, Tennessee. The trail traverses Sugarland Mountain, a massive ridge running perpendicular to the main crest of the Smokies and effectively dividing the park's north-central section from its northwestern section. Sugarland Mountain is flanked by the deep upper valleys of two of the park's major watersheds— the West Fork of the Little Pigeon River (to the east) and Little River (to the west). The trail passes through several forest types, including deciduous forest at lower elevations, heaths ("hells") along the mountain's backbone formations, and a stand of Southern Appalachian spruce-fir forest in the upper elevations. Newfound Gap
Newfound Gap (el. ) is a mountain pass located near the center of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park of the southern Appalachian Mountains in the United States of America. Situated along the border of Tennessee and North Carolina, the state line crosses the gap, as does Newfound Gap Road (which overlaps U.S. Route 441 through the park and ends at the park's boundaries near Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Cherokee, North Carolina).
