Mount Milton
Mount Milton () is a mountain high located south-southeast of Mount Craddock and southeast of Mount Southwick, in the southern part of the Sentinel Range in the Ellsworth Mountains of Antarctica. It overlooks Kornicker Glacier to the northeast and Sirma Glacier to the west. A mountain is an elevated portion of the Earth's crust, generally with steep sides that show significant exposed bedrock. Mount Craddock
Mount Craddock is a large, bold mountain forming the south extremity of Craddock Massif in Sentinel Range, the ninth highest mountain in Antarctica. It is linked by Karnare Col to Mount Strybing in the southern Sentinel Range. The ninth-highest mountain in Antarctica was first climbed in January 1992. The name Mount Craddock was originally recommended by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1965 for the present-day Craddock Massif but subsequent maps limited Mount Craddock to the massif's southernmost peak, a position that became established over years. Mount Southwick
Mount Southwick () is a mountain (3,280 m) in Owen Ridge near the south end of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica, located 9 nautical miles (17 km) south-southeast of Mount Craddock. The peak surmounts Bolgrad Glacier to the northwest, Kornicker Glacier to the east and Sirma Glacier to the southwest. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1957 to 1959. Sentinel Range
The Sentinel Range is a major mountain range situated northward of Minnesota Glacier and forming the northern half of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The range trends NNW-SSE for about and is 24 to 48 km (15 to 30 mi) wide. Ellsworth Mountains
The Ellsworth Mountains are the highest mountain ranges in Antarctica, forming a long and wide chain of mountains in a north to south configuration on the western margin of the Ronne Ice Shelf in Marie Byrd Land. They are bisected by Minnesota Glacier to form the Sentinel Range to the north and the Heritage Range to the south. Kornicker Glacier
Kornicker Glacier () is a glacier draining northeastwards from the cirque bounded by Mount Liptak, Mount Southwick, Mount Milton and Mount Mullen in the southern Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The glacier flows along the northwestern side of Petvar Heights and merges with the terminus of the southeast-flowing Thomas Glacier as both glaciers emerge from the range. Sirma Glacier
Sirma Glacier ( bg, ледник Сирма, lednik Sirma, ) is the long and wide glacier on the west side of Owen Ridge in southern Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica, situated south of Bolgrad Glacier, and flowing west-southwestwards from Mount Southwick, Mount Milton and Mount Inderbitzen to leave the range and join Nimitz Glacier northwest of Modren Peak. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (ACAN or US-ACAN) is an advisory committee of the United States Board on Geographic Names responsible for recommending commemorative names for features in Antarctica. History The committee was established in 1943 as the Special Committee on Antarctic Names (SCAN). It became the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1947. Fred G. Alberts was Secretary of the Committee from 1949 to 1980. By 1959, a structured nomenclature was reached, allowing for further exploration, structured mapping of the region and a unique naming system. A 1990 ACAN gazeeter of Antarctica listed 16,000 names.
