Mougins Center Of Photography
The Mougins Center of Photography (Centre de Photographie de Mougins) is a photography gallery located in the village of Mougins, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, France. It opened in July 2021. The building was previously home to the , which closed in 2018. The rehabilitation was financed by the municipality as well as by the Provence-Alps-French Riviera administrative region. Its inaugural exhibition was by Isabel Muñoz. François Cheval is the gallery's artistic director and independent curator and Yasmine Chemali is its manager. Mougins
Mougins (; oc, Mogins ; la, Muginum ) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes département in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. In 2019, it had a population of 19,982. It is located on the heights of Cannes, in the arrondissement of Grasse. Mougins is a 15-minute drive from Cannes. The town is surrounded by forests, most notably the Valmasque forest. In the town there are pines, olives and cypress trees. History The hilltop of Mougins has been occupied since the pre-Roman period. Isabel Muñoz
Isabel Muñoz (born 1951) is a Spanish photographer who lives in Madrid. Life and work Muñoz was born in Barcelona and grew up in the Catalonia region with a Valencian family and some ancestors of remote origin. When she was 20 years old, she moved to Madrid and started studying photography in 1979 at Photocentro. Her black and white photos are a study of people through pieces of the human body or pictures of toreros, dancers or Warriors. She uses a handmade and meticulous process called platinotype, a technique that early 19th century photographers used, which has great quality and a unique texture. Muñoz primarily uses black and white in her works, except when exploring anthropological or social issues. In such occasions, like working with drag queens and primitive tribes, she will use color.
