Mossoró Airport
Gov. Dix-Sept Rosado Municipal Airport is the airport serving Mossoró, Brazil. Since May 27, 1953 the airport is named after Jerônimo Dix-Sept Rosado Maia (1911-1951), former mayor of Mossoró and Governor of Rio Grande do Norte, who died on a Lóide Aéreo Nacional air crash near Aracaju on July 12, 1951. It is operated by Infraero. History The airport was opened in 1945. Previously managed by Infracea, on December 29, 2022 the Municipality of Mossoró signed a contract of operation with Infraero. Jerônimo Dix-Sept Rosado Maia (Mossoró, 1911 — Aracaju, 12 de julho de 1951) was a Brazilian politician, mayor of Mossoró and governor of Rio Grande do Norte state in Brazil. Early years Born March 25, 1911, in Mossoró, Jerônimo had shown interest in the mechanics of machinery and automotive engines: a passion that remained even when he took political and social positions of prominence. He was the seventeenth child of pharmacist Jerônimo Ribeiro Rosado, and his second wife, Isaura Rosado Maia. Dix-sept means "seventeen" in French, since his father had the eccentric custom of numbering their children with French numbers. Aracaju–Santa Maria International Airport is the airport serving Aracaju, Brazil. It is operated by AENA. History Although it had been in operation since the beginning of the 1950s, the official opening of the airport took place on 19 January 1958. In 1961, the first renovation of the airport complex began, with an extension of the runway and enlargement of the passenger terminal. In 1975, Infraero became the administrator of the airport. Infraero later invested in further extension of the runway (completed in 1993) and in significant enlargement of the passenger terminal (completed in 1998).
