Moscrop Secondary School
Moscrop Secondary School is a publicly operated secondary school in Burnaby, British Columbia. The school serves grades eight through twelve and currently has an enrollment of about 1600 students. It is one of the three high schools in School District 41 to offer the French Immersion program. History Moscrop opened in 1956 as a junior high school, serving students in Burnaby West. Until 1998, Moscrop Secondary remained a junior high, with only grades seven to nine. In 1964, grade ten was included. In 1998, they incorporated grade 11, and 1999, grade 12. The school’s small physical building suffered from strains after expanding its capacity to grades 11 and 12 during and after this time. The Prime Minister's Youth Council (french: Conseil jeunesse du premier ministre) is an advisory board created by the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau in 2016. Currently, 10 Canadian youth aged 16 to 24 comprise the non-partisan board. Members advise the prime minister on education, economy, climate change and other issues affecting youth. Trudeau announced the formation of the council on Twitter on 19 June 2016, after which he fielded questions online. It was the first time he used social media to make a major announcement as Prime Minister. Members of the council meet in-person or online via video or audio conference on a regular basis. Dana Albert Larsen (born 1971) is a Canadian author, businessman, philanthropist and activist for cannabis and drug policy reform. Kenndal McArdle (born January 4, 1987) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played with the Florida Panthers and the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career As a youth, McArdle played in the 2001 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Burnaby. A portable classroom (also known as a demountable or relocatable classroom, portables, bungalows), is a type of portable building installed at a school to temporarily and quickly provide additional classroom space where there is a shortage of capacity. They are designed so they may be removed once the capacity situation abates, whether by a permanent addition to the school, another school being opened in the area, or a reduction in student population.
