Death
Death is the irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain an organism. For organisms with a brain, death can also be defined as the irreversible cessation of functioning of the whole brain, including brainstem, and brain death is sometimes used as a legal definition of death. The remains of a former organism normally begin to decompose shortly after death. Death is an inevitable process that eventually occurs in almost all organisms. Death is generally applied to whole organisms; the similar process seen in individual components of an organism, such as cells or tissues, is necrosis. Something that is not considered an organism, such as a virus, can be physically destroyed but is not said to die. As of the early 21st century, over 150,000 humans die each day, with ageing being by far the most common cause of death. Many cultures and religions have the idea of an afterlife, and also may hold the idea of judgement of good and bad deeds in one's life ( h ...

Octave Feuillet
Octave Feuillet (11 July 1821 – 29 December 1890) was a French novelist and dramatist. His work stands midway between the romanticists and the realists. He is renowned for his "distinguished and lucid portraiture of life", depictions of female characters, analyses of characters' psychologies and feelings, and his reserved but witty prose style. His most popular work remains his 1858 novel ''Le Roman d'un jeune homme pauvre'' (''The Story of a Poor Young Man''), which has been adapted for film many times by Italian, French, and Argentinian directors. Biography Feuillet was born at Saint-Lô, Manche (Normandy). His father, Jacques Feuillet, was a prominent lawyer and Secretary-General of La Manche, but also a hypersensitive invalid. His mother died when he was an infant. Feuillet inherited some of his father's nervous excitability, though not to the same degree. He was sent to Lycée Louis-le Grand in Paris, where he achieved high distinction, assuring him of a good po ...

Morte Point is a peninsula on the north west coast of Devon, England, belonging to the National Trust. To the east is the village of Mortehoe and to the south is the seaside resort of Woolacombe. In the summer season, tractor and trailer rides are operated from the Mortehoe Heritage Centre onto the point for visitors to view the seals that live on the northern side. Five ships were wrecked in the winter of 1852 alone; Bull Point Lighthouse was built just 1¼ miles (2 km) north east of the point.McCloy, A. and Whitehorne, S. La Morte D'Orfeo
' (''The Death of Orpheus'') is an opera in five acts by the Italian composer Stefano Landi. Dedicated to Alessandro Mattei, ''familiaris'' of Pope Paul V, it may have been first performed in Rome in 1619. The work is styled a ''tragicomedia pastorale'' (pastoral tragicomedy). The libretto, which may be by the composer himself, is in part inspired by ''La favola d'Orfeo'' (1484) by Angelo Poliziano. Unlike Monteverdi's ''L'Orfeo'' and the earliest Florentine operas on the subject ('' Euridice'' by Peri and Caccini), Landi's opera contains comic elements and deals with a different episode from the life of the mythical singer. Roles Synopsis After Orpheus has failed to save his wife Eurydice from the underworld, he renounces wine and the love of women. This offends the god Bacchus who urges his female followers, the Maenads, to kill Orpheus. The enraged Maenads tear him apart. The gods want the dead Orpheus to join them on Olympus but Orpheus wants to be reunited with Eurydice in ...
