Alan Morrison (born 3 March 1971) is a British racing driver who resides in Northern Ireland. Racing career A former British Champion in motocross and winner of a single 125cc Motocross World Championship race, he first started circuit racing in the Ford Fiesta championship in 1997 and again this time winning the championship in 1998. He entered the Vauxhall Vectra Sri Challenge in 1999, finishing 2nd on points. For 2000 Morrison was in the British Touring Car Championship's newly introduced class B. With his Peugeot 306 Gti he won the class championship with 13 class B wins. He is probably best known that year for a huge crash at Brands Hatch where he went into a barrel roll going round the Grand Prix circuit. The moderator of the General Assembly is the chairperson of a General Assembly, the highest court of a Presbyterian or Reformed church. Kirk sessions and presbyteries may also style the chairperson as moderator. The Oxford Dictionary states that a Moderator may be a "Presbyterian minister presiding over an ecclesiastical body". Presbyterian churches are ordered by a presbyterian polity, including a hierarchy of councils or courts of elders, from the local church (kirk) Session through presbyteries (and perhaps synods) to a General Assembly. Angus Morrison (minister)
Angus Morrison, (born 1953) is a minister of the Church of Scotland who was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland 2015–2016. He had been nominated for the role a year earlier but withdrew because of ill health. He is an Extra Chaplain to the King in Scotland, appointed in 2023. Early life and education Morrison was born in Glencoe, Scotland, in 1953. His father worked for the Northern Lighthouse Board and, as a child, Morrison lived in various places around Scotland and went to school in Oban, Stromness and Edinburgh. Allan Morrison (trader)
Allan Morrison (June 3, 1803 – November 21, 1877), alternatively spelled Allen Morrison, was a Canadian-American fur trader and politician who served in the House of Representatives during the first session of the Minnesota Territorial Legislature. He is the namesake of Morrison County, Minnesota, along with his brother William. Biography Morrison was born in Montreal to Allan Morrison, Sr. and Jane Wadin. Wadin's father was Jean-Étienne Waddens, a fur trader who was killed by Peter Pond in 1782. Morrison came to northern Minnesota for the fur trade and was associated with William. He would go on to successively run posts at Big Sandy Lake, Leech Lake, Red Lake, Mille Lacs Lake, and Old Crow Wing. He stayed at Old Crow Wing until 1874 and is considered the first white person to settle there. Alexander Morrison (January 15, 1851 – January 24, 1930) was a Canadian farmer and politician. Born in Kemptville, Canada West, the son of William Morrison and Elizabeth Morrow, Morrison attended public school and then became a farmer in Homewood, Manitoba. He was Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Dufferin for six years before being elected to the House of Commons of Canada for Macdonald in a 1912 by-election. After the election was declared void in 1913, he was re-elected in the resulting by-election. A Conservative, he did not run for re-election in 1917. Alexander Morrison (3 February 1829 – 31 May 1903) was Headmaster of Scotch College, Melbourne, Australia, for 47 years. Early life Morrison was born in Edinkillie, Morayshire, Scotland, the sixth son of Donald Morrison, a farmer, and his wife Catherine ''née'' Fraser. Alexander was educated at the Elgin Academy and King's College, University of Aberdeen, (M.A. 1851). He was a master for two years at a school at Elgin, and then for three years was in charge of St John's Grammar School, Hamilton. During this period the number of boys at the school increased from 194 to 397. Morrison married Christina (died 1883), daughter of Alexander Fraser, in 1855. Alexander Morrison (15 March 1849 – 7 December 1913) was a Scottish Botanist who was the first Government Botanist of Western Australia. Morrison was born in western Dalmeny, Scotland the 8th of 10 children to Thomas Morrison (1809-1867) and Ann Geggie (1815-1867). He began a medicine degree at Edinburgh, but suffered from ill health, prompting him to break his studies and visit Australia. He spent two years in Melbourne before returning to Edinburgh to complete his degree. He then undertook post-graduate studies at Glasgow, Würzburg and Vienna. He returned to Australia in 1877 as a medical officer on a migrant ship. He practiced medicine in Melbourne for 15 years, but again ill health prompted him to travel. He visited the South Seas and spend some time living in the New Hebrides, where he collected plants for Ferdinand von Mueller. Established in 1994 by the Government of Canada as the Lester B. Pearson Canadian International Peacekeeping Training Centre (more commonly the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre, or simply the Pearson Centre) was an independent, not-for-profit organization with its office based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
