Morph (zoology)
In biology, polymorphism is the occurrence of two or more clearly different morphs or forms, also referred to as alternative ''phenotypes'', in the population of a species. To be classified as such, morphs must occupy the same habitat at the same time and belong to a panmictic population (one with random mating). Ford E.B. 1965. ''Genetic polymorphism''. For example, there is more than one possible trait in terms of a jaguar's skin colouring; they can be light morph or dark morph. Yentl En De Boer
Yentl en de Boer is a Dutch cabaret and musical duo, consisting of Yentl Schieman and Christine de Boer. The duo received two ''Annie M.G. Schmidt Awards'', awarded to the best theatrical song of the year: In 2014 for their song ''Ik heb een man gekend'' (''I knew this guy'') and in 2020 for ''Het is begonnen'' (''It has begun''). Earlier on in their career Yentl en de Boer were awarded with the Wim Sonneveld Award and the Audience Award during the Amsterdam Cabaret Festival 2013 (''Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival 2013''). Morphogram
A morphogram is the representation of a morpheme by a grapheme based solely on its meaning. Kanji is a writing system that make use of morphograms, where Chinese characters were borrowed to represent native morphemes because of their meanings. Thus, a single character can represent a variety of morphemes which originally all had the same meaning. An example of this in Japanese would be the grapheme 東 [east], which can be read as ''higashi'' or ''azuma'', in addition to its logographic representation of the morpheme ''tō''. Additionally, in Japanese, the logographic (Chinese-derived) reading is called the ''on'yomi'' reading, and the morphographic reading (native Japanese) is called the ''kun'yomi'' reading. Morphism
In mathematics, particularly in category theory, a morphism is a structure-preserving map from one mathematical structure to another one of the same type. The notion of morphism recurs in much of contemporary mathematics. In set theory, morphisms are functions; in linear algebra, linear transformations; in group theory, group homomorphisms; in topology, continuous functions, and so on. In category theory, ''morphism'' is a broadly similar idea: the mathematical objects involved need not be sets, and the relationships between them may be something other than maps, although the morphisms between the objects of a given category have to behave similarly to maps in that they have to admit an associative operation similar to function composition. Morpheme
A morpheme is the smallest meaningful Constituent (linguistics), constituent of a linguistic expression. The field of linguistics, linguistic study dedicated to morphemes is called morphology (linguistics), morphology. In English, morphemes are often but bound and free morphemes, not necessarily word, words. Morphemes that stand alone are considered root (linguistics), roots (such as the morpheme ''cat''); other morphemes, called affix, affixes, are found only in combination with other morphemes. For example, the ''-s'' in ''cats'' indicates the concept of plurality but is always bound to another concept to indicate a specific kind of plurality. This distinction is not universal and does not apply to, for example, Latin, in which many roots cannot stand alone. The Nokia Morph is a concept mobile phone created by Finnish company Nokia in collaboration with the University of Cambridge in Great Britain and is based on nanotechnology. The project was postponed indefinitely due to the sale of Nokia’s mobile phone division. Launched along with the Museum of Modern Art “Design and the Elastic Mind” exposition, the Nokia Morph concept device is a bridge between very advanced technology and its possible benefits for end users. Morphs Collaboration
The Morphs collaboration was a coordinated study to determine the morphologies of galaxies in distant clusters and to investigate the evolution of galaxies as a function of environment and epoch. Eleven clusters were examined and a detailed ground-based and space-based study was carried out. The project was begun in 1997 based upon the earlier observations by two groups using data from images derived from the pre-refurbished Hubble Space Telescope. It was a collaboration of Alan Dressler and Augustus Oemler Jr., at Observatory of the Carnegie Institute of Washington, Warrick J. "Morph" is a song written and recorded by American musical duo Twenty One Pilots from their fifth studio album, ''Trench'' (2018). It was released as a promotional single the same day as the album's release. The song was written by vocalist Tyler Joseph in a studio in his basement. It was produced by Joseph, with co-production from Paul Meany of Mutemath, and recorded at United Recording Studios in Hollywood, California. Even though the song is one of the less conceptual of their concept album, it still reveals more about the surroundings of a world named "Trench" and a city called "DEMA". A key discovery comes in "Morph" with the identity of Nicolas Bourbaki, the titular character of the song "Nico and the Niners" and one of the main antagonists in the story.
