History Morgantown was founded near the end of the American Civil War by George Decatur Morgan, who first arrived in the area, pre-war, via wagon train ''Wagon Train'' is an American Western series that aired 8 seasons: first on the NBC television network (1957–1962), and then on ABC (1962–1965). Oktibbeha County is a county in the east central portion of the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2020 census the population was 51,788. The county seat is Starkville. The county's name is derived from a local Native American word meaning either "bloody water" or "icy creek". Via the Tombigbee, it is part of the watershed of the Mobile River, which flows to the Gulf of Mexico.
