More (Theme From Mondo Cane)

Easy Listening
Easy listening (including mood music) is a popular music genre and radio format that was most popular during the 1950s to 1970s. It is related to middle-of-the-road (MOR) music and encompasses instrumental recordings of standards, hit songs, non-rock vocals and instrumental covers of selected popular rock songs. It mostly concentrates on music that pre-dates the rock and roll era, characteristically on music from the 1940s and 1950s. It was differentiated from the mostly instrumental beautiful music format by its variety of styles, including a percentage of vocals, arrangements and tempos to fit various parts of the broadcast day. Easy listening music is often confused with lounge music, but while it was popular in some of the same venues it was meant to be listened to for enjoyment rather than as background sound. History The style has been synonymous with the tag "with strings". String instruments had been used in sweet bands in the 1930s and was the dominant sound track ... Soul Surfin'
''Soul Surfin is an album by jazz trombonist and arranger Kai Winding featuring guitarist Kenny Burrell recorded in 1963 for the Verve label. The album was reissued as ''!!!More!!! (Theme from Mondo Cane)'' following the chart success of the single of the same name.Payne, DKai Winding on Verve (1961-1967) accessed June 23, 2016 Reception The Allmusic review by Tony Wilds observed "A strict surf album this is not, despite the packaging and a few titles. ''More'' is really the classic, best-selling album launching Kai Winding's mod sound. Actually, it is Claus Ogerman and Winding's sound, helped out in no small part by Kenny Burrell on guitar. Except when obviously imitating standard surf guitar, Burrell provides texture, specifically the "water sound" popularized by Vinnie Bell. Within this warm bath, as it were, the piercing electronic ondioline shimmers icily. The rhythm is basic "big beat" rock, and melody never really has a chance to escape blues figures, which is just as well ... Ondioline
The Ondioline is an electronic keyboard musical instrument, developed and built by Frenchman Georges Jenny. Sometimes referred to as the "Jenny Ondioline," the instrument is considered a forerunner of the synthesizer. First conceived by Jenny in 1939, he continued refining and reconfiguring the device, producing dozens of variant models up until his death in 1975. Though monophonic, the Ondioline is capable of creating a wide variety of sounds. Its keyboard spans three octaves, but by adjusting a register knob a player can render up to eight octaves. The instrument's keyboard is suspended on custom-designed springs, which enables a natural vibrato if the player manipulates a key laterally (from side to side) as that key is depressed. The keyboard is pressure-sensitive, and volume is controlled by a knee lever. The foremost exponent and popularizer of the instrument was Jean-Jacques Perrey, who performed and recorded with it, composed for it, and served as the instrument's first ...
