Moockra
__NOTOC__ Moockra is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the eastern side of the Flinders Ranges about north of the state capital of Adelaide and about north-east and south-east respectively of the municipal seats of Melrose and Quorn. Boundaries for the locality were created on 13 March 1997 for the part within the District Council of Mount Remarkable, on 25 November 1999 for the part in the Flinders Ranges Council and on 16 December 1999 for the part in the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton. Its boundaries include the sites of the Government Towns of Hawkshaw and Moockra. Its name is derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Moockra which is of Aboriginal origin and is ultimately derived from “a large rock on top of a hill” in the locality called the Moockra Tower. Carrieton, South Australia
Carrieton is a small town situated in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia. It is located between the towns of Orroroo to the south and Cradock to the north. Originally opened in 1877 as Yanyarrie Whim, (Yanyarrie is in the local indigenous dialect "eagle feathers") with the construction of a post office, the settlement was renamed in 1888 as Carrieton, after the daughter of Governor Jervois, Lucy Caroline. Railways The town was on the Peterborough–Quorn railway line which opened in December 1881, served by a Class 1 station. A large goods shed and fettler's cottage were also constructed. Passenger services were discontinued during 1969, when the South Australian Railways withdrew the railcar service. Declining rail traffic saw the gradual withdrawal of services on the railway, with the last station master being withdrawn on 1 July 1971. Stephenston, South Australia

Boundaries for the locality were created in March 1997 for the “long established name“ which was “incorrectly spelt as Stephenson” in the South Australian Government Gazette of 13 March 1997 and is derived from the ceased Government Town of Stephenston whose site is located within the boundaries of the locality. The Government Town of Stephenston which was located in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Palmer was surveyed in February 1879, proclaimed on 17 July 1879 and was finally declared as ‘ceasing to exist’ on 11 May 1961. A school operated from 1881 to 1915 and a post office operated from November 1879 to 1904. Eurelia is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the east side of the Flinders Ranges about north of the state capital of Adelaide and about from the municipal seat of Orroroo. The town was surveyed in July 1878 and was gazetted as a government town on 12 September 1878 with its name being derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Eurelia. The locality's boundaries were created on 16 December 1999 for the “long established name” and includes the site of the Government Town of Eurelia. Eurelia's name comes from the local Jadliaura language and translates to "place of the ear". Yanyarrie, South Australia

The locality’s boundaries were created on 16 December 1999 for the “local established name” which is derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Yanyarrie whose northern side is occupied by the locality and ultimately from an aboriginal word meaning “Kangaroo Urine”. Land use within the locality is ’primary production’ and is concerned with “agricultural production and the grazing of stock on relatively large holdings.” The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Yanyarrie had a population of 5 people. Hammond, South Australia
Hammond is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the southern Flinders Ranges. The town of Hammond was surveyed in May 1879 on the banks of the Bellaratta Creek. It is named after William Henry Hammond Jervois, the eldest son of Governor of South Australia William Jervois. St Dominic's Catholic Church in Hammond opened in 1907 but closed on 25 June 2006. Hammond school opened in 1886 but is also now closed. Railway From 1881, Hammond was on the Peterborough–Quorn railway line. Peterborough provided rail connection south to Adelaide, west to Port Pirie and east to Broken Hill. Quorn was on the Central Australia Railway from Port Augusta to Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Kanyaka, South Australia
Kanyaka is a rural locality in the Far North region of South Australia, situated in the Flinders Ranges Council. Kanyaka Station, a prominent pastoral holding in the region, was taken up in 1852 by Hugh Proby. It became one of the largest stations in the area, reportedly employing up to seventy families at one stage. In 1856, the station owner built an eating house on the main road to divert visitors away from the main station. A government town of Kanyaka along the main road was surveyed in 1863, although not proclaimed; although the Kanyaka township itself would be a failure and the least successful of the four former towns in the modern-day locality, it allowed for the construction of a two-story hotel, the Great Northern Hotel, on the main road in 1865. The Hundred of Boolcunda is a cadastral hundred of the County of Newcastle in South Australia. It was proclaimed by Governor Anthony Musgrave in 1876. The principal locality in the hundred is the former township of Willochra. In 1969 Kanyaka amalgamated with Quorn council, bringing the hundred under the governance of the District Council of Kanyaka-Quorn. Flinders Ranges Council is a local government area (LGA) located in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia. The LGA is approximately 100 km from north to south, and 45 km from east to west, with a total area of 4,198 square kilometres. Cradock is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia 320 kilometres north of the state capital of Adelaide on the RM Williams Way . The nearest town with a greater population is Hawker which is approximately 20 km away with a population of around 360. Cradock is in the Flinders Ranges Council area, the state Electoral district of Stuart and the federal Division of Grey. The town was surveyed during November 1878 and proclaimed on 6 March 1879.
