Montréal Division No. 6
Montréal division no. 6 (or Montréal no. 6) was a former provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elected members to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec. It was created for the 1890 election from part of Montréal-Centre electoral district. Its final general election was in 1908 (and there was a by-election later that year). It disappeared in the 1912 election and its successor electoral districts were Montréal–Sainte-Anne, Montréal–Saint-Georges, and Montréal–Saint-Laurent. Montreal (region)
Montreal is one of the administrative regions of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is also a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and a census division (CD), for both of which its geographical code is 66. Prior to the merger of the municipalities in ''Region 06'' in 2002, the administrative region was co-extensive with the Montreal Urban Community. Located in the southern part of the province, the territory includes several of the islands of the Hochelaga Archipelago in the Saint Lawrence River, including the Island of Montreal, Nuns' Island (Île des Sœurs), Île Bizard, Saint Helen's Island (Île Sainte-Hélène), Île Notre-Dame, Dorval Island (Île Dorval), and several others. Michael James Walsh
Michael James Walsh (September 2, 1858 – May 2, 1933) was a Canadian politician. Born in Montreal, Canada East, Walsh was a member of the Montreal City Council from 1902 to 1906. James John Edmund Guerin
James John Edmund Guerin (4 July 1856 – 10 November 1932) was a Canadian physician and politician. Biography Born in Montreal, Canada East, the son of Thomas Guerin and Mary McGuire, Guerin was educated at the Collège de Montréal and received a M.D. degree from McGill University in 1878. He was an attending physician and President of the Medical Board at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Montreal. He was also a professor of Clinical Medicine at the location of Laval University then in Montreal. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for the electoral district of Montréal division no. 6 in an 1895 by-election. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1897 and 1900. He was a Minister without Portfolio in the cabinet of Félix-Gabriel Marchand and Simon-Napoléon Parent. He was defeated in 1904. The Conservative Party of Quebec (french: Parti conservateur du Québec) was a political party in Quebec, Canada, from 1867 until 1936, when it merged with members of the Action libérale nationale to form the Union Nationale. Origins The party originated as the '' Parti bleu'' which was formed around 1850. The ''parti bleu'' opposed the anti-clericalism of its rival, the ''parti rouge''. The ''parti bleu'' supported the role of the clergy in Quebec society. Members of the ''parti bleu'', led by George-Étienne Cartier from Canada East, joined with the followers of Sir John A. Patrick Kennedy (Canadian Politician)
Patrick Kennedy (1832 – June 30, 1895) was an Irish-born contractor and political figure in Quebec. He represented Montréal division no. 6 in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1892 to 1895 as a Conservative. He was born in Trasersten, County Tipperary, the son of Edward Kennedy. He was a carter and general contractor. In 1861, he married Elizabeth Tracey. Kennedy served on Montreal city council from 1877 to 1883 and from 1887 to 1894. He was president of the Montreal police commission from 1882 to 1883. The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP; french: Parti libéral du Québec, PLQ) is a provincial political party in Quebec. It has been independent of the federal Liberal Party of Canada since 1955. James McShane
James McShane (November 7, 1833 – December 14, 1918) was a Canadian businessman and politician. He was mayor of Montreal, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec, and a member of the House of Commons of Canada. The 1912 Quebec general election was held on May 15, 1912, to elect members of the 13th Legislative Assembly of the Province of Quebec, Canada.
