Montrachet (restaurant)
Montrachet was a French restaurant in Tribeca opened in April 1985 and Drew Nieporent’s first restaurant. It closed in the summer of 2006. Within seven weeks of opening, the ''New York Times'' gave it a three star rating which it kept for 21 years. Unlike other “serious French restaurants” of the time, Montrachet was a remodeled industrial space with pipes that were exposed, original plaster ceilings, young staff dressed all in black and a printed menu in English instead of French. Daniel Johnnes’ wine list gave American wines as much focus as French. '' Wine Spectator'' honored them with a Grand Award in 1994. Tribeca
Tribeca (), originally written as TriBeCa, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City. Its name is a syllabic abbreviation of "Triangle Below Canal Street". The "triangle" (more accurately a quadrilateral) is bounded by Canal Street, West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. By the 2010s, a common marketing tactic was to extend Tribeca's southern boundary to either Vesey or Murray streets to increase the appeal of property listings. The neighborhood began as farmland, then was a residential neighborhood in the early 19th century, before becoming a mercantile area centered on produce, dry goods, and textiles, and then transitioning to artists and then actors, models, entrepreneurs and other celebrities. Drew Nieporent
Drew Nieporent is an American restaurateur based in New York City. His company Myriad Restaurant Group owns and operates numerous restaurants. Nieporent's Nobu and Nobu London both earned two Michelin stars. The restaurant's partners are celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa and actor Robert De Niro. Early life and education Nieporent graduated in 1973 from Stuyvesant High School and in 1977 from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a degree from the School of Hotel Management. At Cornell, he was also a member of the Quill and Dagger society. While at Cornell, he worked on the cruise ships Vistafjord and Sagafjord. Daniel Johnnes
Daniel Johnnes (born 1955 in Manhattan, New York) is an American sommelier and wine entrepreneur, and longtime wine collaborator with Chef Daniel Boulud and his restaurant group. He is also known as the founder and host of La Paulée de New York and La Paulée de San Francisco which are inspired by the traditional Burgundian harvest celebration La Paulée de Meursault. Career Daniel Johnnes has been the Wine Director for Daniel Boulud's Dinex group since 2005. Bill Yosses
William Yosses (born about 1952) is an American chef who is best known as co-author of the book '' Desserts For Dummies'' and for being the White House Executive Pastry Chef from 2007 to 2014. Yosses is now the owner of the pastry company Perfect Pie, which is based in New York City. Career Yosses served apprenticeships in France, and also worked under Chef Patrice Boely and Sous Chef Daniel Boulud at The Polo Restaurant in New York City. He earned his A.A.S. degree at the New York City College of Technology in Hotel Management, a Master of Arts at Rutgers University in French Language and Literature and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toledo in French Language. David Bouley
David Bouley (born May 27, 1953, near Storrs, Connecticut) is an Cuisine of the United States, American chef with dual French citizenship. Sole owner and chef with restaurants in Tribeca, New York City. He is best known for his flagship restaurant, ''Bouley'', synonymous with high standards, Nouveau Cuisine redefined in the guise of a lighter French paradigm for the highest density of food nutrition and community. Early in his career, Bouley worked in restaurants in Cape Cod, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and, eventually, France and Switzerland. Debra Ponzek
Debra Ponzek is an American chef, who won the James Beard Foundation Award for Rising Star Chef in 1992 beating her then-husband Bobby Flay. She is now the owner of Aux Délices restaurants in Connecticut. Career Debra Ponzek was born and brought up in Morristown, New Jersey.
