Montmagny-L'Islet (electoral District)
Montmagny-L'Islet is a former provincial electoral district in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada that elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec. As of its final election, it included the cities or municipalities of Montmagny, Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, L'Islet, Sainte-Perpétue, Saint-Pamphile and Cap-Saint-Ignace. It was created for the 1973 election from Montmagny and a part of L'Islet. Its final election was in 2008. It disappeared in the 2012 election and the successor electoral district was Côte-du-Sud. Its territory never changed during its entire existence, despite overall electoral map reforms in 1980, 1985, 1988, 1992 and 2001. Tourville, Quebec
Tourville is a municipality in the L'Islet RCM in Quebec, Canada. It is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. History The parish of Saint-Clément-de-Tourville, which served as a mission from 1913-1919, was officially founded in 1919 by an abbot named Bernard-Édouard Martin. The citizens wished to name it Martinville in his honour, but since there was another post office that had been established under this name, they opted for Tourville, which also honours Saint Martin of Tours. A road to the village (today known as Route 204), was constructed between 1854 and 1859. At that time, the village had already been taking advantage of the abundant wood, particularly pine. In 1856, a farmer from Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies settled near Black Lake and lowered its water level by digging an outlet in hopes of making a pasture. Saint-Pamphile is a town in the Canadian province of Quebec situated in the L'Islet Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative district. While the official municipal territory ends at the Canada–United States border located at the eastern end of town, there is a tiny hamlet located immediately east of the border, known as St-Pamphile, Maine. Saint-Marcel is a municipality in Quebec located in the MRC de L'Islet in the Chaudière-Appalaches. As of the 2016 census, the population of Saint-Marcel is 428. Geography Saint-Marcel is located 130 miles from Quebec southeast of the Chaudière-Appalaches region, in the Côte-du-Sud area, on the Appalachian Plateau. Near the Canada–US border, it is halfway between Sainte-Felicite and Sainte-Apolline-de-Patton. The landscape consists of rolling hills and valleys of between 250 and 450 meters (800–1500 feet).
