Montfort Secondary School (MSS) is a Catholic school in Hougang, Singapore. Founded in 1916, it is a government-aided secondary education all-boys school. It is one of the seven institutions governed by St Gabriel's Foundation. History Holy Innocents' English School (1916-1958) Montfort Secondary School was founded in 1916 as the Holy Innocents' English School, next to Nativity church in Upper Serangoon Road, by the parish priest of Serangoon, Father Laurent. At the request of the Inspector of Schools, Father H. Duvelle, the successor of Father Laurent, organized an English class and a Chinese class on the floors of the two-storey building between the church and the school canteen. Mr Lee Ah Kow was engaged to run the classes which lasted for three years. In March 1920, Father E. Loh Kean Hean
Loh Kean Hean (; born 12 March 1995) is a Singaporean badminton player. Career Born in Penang, Loh permanently moved to Singapore in 2009 after receiving a scholarship from the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA). His younger brother followed him soon after. Loh studied at Montfort Secondary School in Hougang while training with the Singapore national badminton team. In 2014, he was the mixed doubles runner-up at the Singapore International Series tournament partnered with Dellis Yuliana, and in 2015, he won the men's doubles title with Terry Hee. Lim Tean (; born 17 November 1964) is a Singaporean lawyer and politician. He is the founder of the political party Peoples Voice. He previously served as secretary-general of the National Solidarity Party from 30 August 2015 to 18 May 2017. Early life Lim was born in 1964 as the eldest son of Lim Chin Teong, a senior civil servant who served as Chief Executive Director of the People's Association (PA) between the late 1970s and early 1980s. William Goh
William Goh Seng Chye (born 25 June 1957) is a Singaporean prelate of the Catholic Church who has been serving as the fourth Archbishop of Singapore since 2013. He was created a cardinal by Pope Francis on 27 August 2022. Biography Early life and education Born in Singapore, Goh attended Montfort Junior School and Montfort Secondary School in Hougang, where he lived. Nicholas Chia
Nicholas Gerald Chia Yeck Joo () (born 8 April 1938) DD, STL was the third Roman Catholic Archbishop of Singapore and the first Singapore-born clergyman to hold the office. He officially retired as Archbishop of Singapore on 18 May 2013, and is succeeded by Archbishop William Goh. He was educated at both Montfort Junior and Secondary schools. Lee Boon Yang ( zh, s=李文献, p=Lǐ Wénxiàn; born 1 October 1947) is a Singaporean a former politician who served as Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts between 2003 and 2009, Minister for Manpower between 1992 and 2003, and Minister for Defence between 1994 and 1995.
