The current location of the Barcelo hotel and resort is the old Somoza Estate, the actual home has been transformed into a Casino that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The land was originally owned by German immigrants and was confiscated by the Somoza dynasty after they declared war on Germany during World War II, even though no fighting took place between the two countries. A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae. The Somoza family ( es, Familia Somoza) is a former political family that ruled Nicaragua for forty-three years from 1936 to 1979. Their family dictatorship was founded by Anastasio Somoza García and was continued by his two sons Luis Somoza Debayle and Anastasio Somoza Debayle. Anastasio Somoza García was the President of Nicaragua from 1937 until 1956. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Luis Somoza Debayle, who held the presidency from 1957 to 1963.
